McNeely lake fishing report

Me and my friend fished Mcneely today from about 4 to 7 pm and didnt catch anything. The water is pretty muddy but not chocolate milk muddy. I used minnows, nightcrawlers and wax worms. Water temp was 51 in the deep areas and about 54 in the shallow areas. Talked to a man that was leaving and he said he caught 10 keeper bluegill on wax worms about 8 ft deep but I guess we got there too late. Game Warden was there checking for licenses so come prepared, the old licenses are now expired. I recommend the sportsman package for 95 dollars. Its covers everything. Hope this helps out. And don't think cause you are fishing private water that you don't need a license...YOU STILL DO!!! I found that one out a few years back...luckily I did have a license, but I was under the assumption you didn't need one to fish private waters. FYI

You guys must have been that one lone boat trailer i saw as drove through the parking lot on my way home. I may sneak over there and walk down to the dam area to fish today.

On the game Warden issue...Got cited and took it to court. Amongst the pot heads and pitty thieves my missing floatation and horn was suprisingly not that big of and issue for the judge!

You can fish and hunt private land if you are the land owner only!

There was a guy with a little red car, pulling out a camo boat when I was there walking with the wife and dog. I guess he's the one you talked to?

Water didn't look too awful muddy on the boat ramp end. At 54 degrees, it should start to really pick up soon.

On a side note - a boat must have a valid registration sticker if it has a trolling motor on it, right? I've got a 10 ft jon that I always paddle around - would like to add a trolling motor but it hasn't ever been licensed and has no title...

Yes Art, If you are going to put a trolling motor on it you have to get it registered. I believe it cost $15. I was thinking about putting a trolling motor on my canoe to use on the Cumberland River but decided I didn't want to put those ugly stickers on it.

Yes sir. That was my chevy truck and trailer. the guy you saw was not the guy I talked too. The guy I talked to was leaving when we got there at about 4 but I did see the guy you are talking about. He had trolling motors on front and back of his little camo boat. Have a good one man.

Not a problem just go down tell them the story and they will be glad to take your money. It'll help if you have a serial number. If none available make one up and engrave it into boat. May have to have sheriff look at it to determine it not a stolen boat. Just a technicalitie thats no big deal. Thats what I had to do to get numbers on mine.

I might have to do that. My granddad gave it to me - it sat by his tool shed for years unused. He bought it brand new over 50 years ago. I've used it for ponds quite a bit - that paddle from the McNeely ramp to the dam is a long paddle to make, especially if there's wind.
