I recently moved to Richmond and was told the White Bass run in Dix River in the spring. Can anyone point me in the right direction if that is the case. Thanks
The white bass in the river for me has always been hit or miss. Last year I did well and other's did not do so well. For me the only way I have any luck is when it starts getting warm and the river is not muddy from the spring rains is just go and see if you can find them. Once you locate them they will be there for days. I always put in at Bryants and run up the river and start fishing for them at the waterfall's, and work my way up to the bottoms. Rooster Tail's, Sassy Shad, Pop Eyes, shallow running crank baits, ect. always did it for me. But one thing I did learn is once I found them, run the boat up on the bank and start fishhing from the bank, I would catch the bigger fish doing this.
Hope this helps
Billy
Thanks Billy for the heads up.
look for them in the shallows of the eddie pools they hang around in the mud banks and will be close to shore if their running.
I got kicked out of Rankins around 8 years ago by a scraggly looking guy that lived in the rundown white house. He came up to my car and hit the hood and told me "you better get this peice of %$*& out of here". My brother and I heard a police scanner in the background so we got the heck out of there quick. We ued to catfish down there at night. Can you still fish it??
