Well, we headed to Malone despite the uncertainty of the conditions...figured it shouldn't be bad since it doesn't have any major rivers feeding it. Put in at the state ramp @0900, water clarity was surprisingly goood...water temps 46...maybe 2foot clarity. We ran up Clifty Creek and water clarity became half a foot at best, with water temps around 50. We fished that area for a while without a sniff, so we headed back down toward the dam to find a little cleaner water. Stopped half-way back and started fishing the shoreline in 48 degree water, 1-2ft visibility. I was throwing a blck/blue jig and my father-in-law put on a white/chartreuse grub 4"....and to my surprise, he hooked up and landed a nice 16", 3lb bass! haha! Soon after, he landed a shortie...I tried everything...jigs, spinnerbaits, cranks, plastics...I finally switched to what my father-in-law was using (after making fun of him when he originally tied it on, haha)...I still never caught a fish. My father-in-law also caught a ten inch crappie on the same bait. Had to be somewhere @ 1400, so we took off. Felt good to be on the water though!
