from alot of the reports im reading about local lakes i see that temps are around 50-52. i was thinking bass spawn in 55-65 degree water. are we really that far away?

The last 2 years I have saw Spots locked down tight & go back 2 to 3 weeks later & there isn't a drop of water where they had spawned. Imagine what it has done to the Large & Smallmouth spawn also. This is Cumberland that I'm talking about by the way.

Re: could the rain hurt spawn

Many lakes in KY see the same thing happen. As fishermen it hurts to see nest on dry land. But the alternative is having houses down river. We have to give it up to our fish and wildlife. They keep up with the bad spawns and replenish our lakes for our fishing pleasure. Makes paying for a license a little easier. I fish Cave Run quite often and if F&W did not stock it on the bad years it would not have any green fish.

My fishing has picked up over the years. Im not one to complain about the F&W. They seem to do a good job to me. Just makes fishing lakes and ponds easier if the spawns get messed up.
