New Fishing Licenses

With these new "online" fishing licenses all you need to do is write down your fishing license number and have that with you when you are fishing.

So I think I am going to tattoo my number on my right shoulder. That way I will be sure to have it with me. I figure I probably have room on my right shoulder for at least ten years of licenses. Then I can just switch over to my left shoulder.

By the time I use both of my shoulders up, they will probably come out with a skin implant and the the game warden can just scan me to check my license.

I just printed multiple copies of my license, and keep one in the truck, one in the boat, one in my tackle bag, etc.

I wish we would go to the type of license Tennesse has. Each year I buy a Tennessee license and am already in the computer. I give them my social security number and it prints up with my name and address already on it. No trying to write on that paper that our license are printed on and nothing smudges off, fades away etc.

I agree! Just got my Tennessee in the mail yesterday....no writing required.

Good idea about making copies of the Kentucky License and placing them in your wallet, in your boat, in your tackle bag, in your shoes, etc...

I just save the number on my phone (take a picture of it, or whatever).

How does that help? Aren't you supposed to carry it on you when you fish?

If you show a cell phone picture of your license does that count or will the Conservation Officer simply text you a photo of your ticket? If so, can you text him a photo of the money to pay your fine?

As was mentioned, all you really need is the number anyway. You can write that in pen on a scrap piece of paper.

I think it's better to save a copy of the confirmation I receive online to my phone. But not everyone has a smartphone, so I mentioned the photo thing.

I was always under the impression that it was a law that you have it in your posession while fishing. Don't see how just having the number on it is legal. Couldn't you get a citation for this if the C.O. wanted to give you one?

If you go to the site to purchase your license online - https://fw.ky.gov/license/waonlinefront.aspx - You are presented with a "Before you start" section where it says this: "Licenses and permits purchased on this site are issued in the form of a printable license image. Customers will not receive a paper license or permit in the mail. An authorization number will also be issued for customers without access to a printer and will serve in lieu of a printed license. Any customer using an authorization number must carry a photo ID while performing the act authorized by the license or permit. You will need a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card to make a purchase." So I would assume the answer to your question is no. But personally, I own a printer, so when I buy mine, I plan on printing it out, although I'll also write down the authorization number, in case I lose it.
