I am slowly heading towards having all BPS reels. Have two pro qualifiers and am considering a new Johnny morris on Friday when they are 79 a pop

Has anyone ever fished with the Bass Pro Shops reels?? I'm going this weekend to pickup a new reel(thinking Citica) and noticed the sale at BPS. Some of the Johnny Morris sig. series are dirt cheap right now. I have never owned one but may give them a shot. Anybody with any issues that have used one.
Thanks

I have a jinny Morris reel. Paid over 200 new, but now it retails 129. One of the better reels I've owned. Very smooth reel. Should be with ten or eleven ball bearings.
I've had BPS and reels and they are okay....but I firmly believe that Shimano makes a better product.
I bought 8 of the bps tournament reels 10 bb 6:4:1 ratio they were on sale for 39.00 I was very impressed they work great. the price was super great and they are welll made. I am told that Browning makes BPS reels.
For the price difference you pay for them they are not that much better. The Pro Qualifiers and J.M reels are great reels, very smooth, long casting, and durable......but not quite as light. I agree that Shimano's are good reels....my buddy has all Shimano's and I have used them.....if blind folded I could not tell a difference though.
I've moved away from the OLD curado green reels to the Johnny Morris reels.
Shimano used to be the best of the best, but some of their stuff is GARBAGE lately. Most of their new spinning gear is junk. And I'm not too happy with the 2 new Green Curado's I have.
I can get 2 Johnny Morris reels for the price of one new Curado. I purchased 2 Curados and 2 Johnnys the same week had have been using them exclusively the past 3 or so years. The Johnnys show more wear, and I've had one minor problem with 1 Johnny, but besides that I'm pretty happy with them.
The jury is still out the spinning gear. They don't seem to wear as good as the shimanos but they DEFINITELY perform better, I think.

guys. I was going to go Friday also and get some Johnny Morris reels. Looked like a good price. But I run up on this Okuma with one of my sponsors. I can tell you this is a sweet reel. 9 BB Low profile. $69.00 Check it out on Monster Fishing. Click on my link www.owencountybassmasters.com then look for Monster fishing. Click that then check out the Okuma.
Several of us on here have bought them. I really like that reel
Browning doesn't make any fishing equipment. All these reels are made in the same factory in Korea. BPS, Abu Garcia Revos, Browning, some Pfluegers
I have the carbonlite combo. I am very impressed with it. I like it better than my Abu sx. It sure looks alot like an Abu as well.
Get the bps tournament series or it might be tournament pro, it is only $39 and a 10 ball bearing system. I have got several of them the are fantastic and inexpensive!!! Trust me you will not be disappointed. They are not in the magazine only in the store. For $39 it can not be beat, I tried the Garcia silver max and there is no comparison between the two the bps beats it hands down. I would love to have the super expensive reels but honestly it will not make you catch anymore fish ha ha, let me know what you go with!
I have two pro qualifiers a johnny Morris a bps royal witch is one of my favorites but you can't find them it was some type of deal they had like 3 or 4 chistmas's ago it's red and it came as a combo. And a tournament series reel. And they all perform well and have held up for a few good years now. I just recently got a Abu Garcia sx and the kvd quantum reel the one that is like 160.00 bucs. And they are good reels to but haven't had a chance to put them through the years of test like my bps reels so we will see how they hold up. But I do recommend the bps reels and rods good equipment and good on the wallet.
