IU is 2 years removed from whatever was left after the Sampson Saga. Program gutted with plenty of scholarships and playing time available. They go 3-15 in the POWERFUL Big Ten Conference this year, where there are only 3 legitimate teams in Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin. 3-17 in their last 20 games after a CUPCAKE with extra sprinkles on top schedule allowed them to go 9-2 to start. Plenty of help needed for the cupboard is bare and only 2 recruits signed for the 2010/2011 class with only 1 of these in the top 100. How many years does it take for a program with the TRADITION of IU to start making ANY noise much less serious noise?

UK was not gutted but Billy Drunken G did not leave the Cupboard full of McDonalds all americans. Johnny C inherited 34 PPG from the 2008/2009 roster to his first season of 2009/2010, and 17 of these were from Patrick Patterson. 12 different players listed from th 2008 team were sent packing. UK struggled with all the changes and influx of new talent to a record of 35-3, SEC regular and tourney champs and a trip to the Elite 8. Signed the Number 1 recruiting class in america this season and the Number 1 recruiting class in america coming in next season. Seems to me that the ratio of walk-on to where IU is today 2 years removed versus 34 PPG to where UK is today is just a bit lopsided on the Big Blue side.

We don't wany IU to start making serious noise but a squeek every now and then would be nice.

Elnut, I believe your as high on your meds as i am most of the time in your dilusional talk about IU's Basketball team.

Come on man...player's shyed away from IU, since no decision was made yet on their status of punishment from the Sampson Era as you say....

Gut any program like the IU situation and tell me how long it would take UK, U of L , WV, UC...or any other major College to make noise as you say IU has not done......

Your way of thinking about basketball in general reminds me of the U of L fans on ths board...they only see (RED) and vs versus...you my friend only see (Blue)....Gotta open them eyes up and see the whole picture around you...Not just what your School has done or doing......

Some true....some embellished Elnut. The only reason that we have signed just two players for next year is because until just very recently we only had two scholarships available. We just found that our guy from overseas that didn't get cleared will be going back home to play pro ball. That leaves us with one for next year now. A JUCO player seems like the way to go. Remember the name Zeller Elnut! What you need to realize also is that those rankings you keep mentioning for recruits doesn't mean everything. Remember Dwayne Wade.......he wasn't ranked in the top 100 coming out of H.S!!!!!!!

Wade was ranked No. 48 by FOXSports.com and No. 55 by Bob Gibbons . He really didn't come into his own until his junior year of high school. He wasn't highly recruited due to academic issues, but he was definitely on everyone's radar.

I don't follow IU basketball at all. But when it is said that a program is gutted down to a walk-on, then there must have been what 10,11,12,13 scholarships available? 3-15 in the Big 3 plus 7, 3-17 in the last 20 games. RPI ranking of 181, just ahead of basketball powerhouse Sam Houston State and just behind the tradional powerhouses LaSalle and South Dakota State. IU is no closer to making some "REAL" noise in College Basketball as I am to winning the 2011 Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Contest. My bet is I get my trophy before they get theirs.

Thank you for correcting me Tim. But you just proved my point. He was ranked 50th (avg) in his class, and he turned out to be one of the top five in the NBA. Rankings are just that. Elnut....please don't compare the Big 10 to the SEC. They are the #2 or 3 conference in the country...where is the SEC???? Also, the year we got "gutted" Crean stepped in after all of the top flight guys had committed to other schools. His second year recruits (now sophmores) was ranked # 10 in the country. Obviously that ranking was a little high....but Mo Creek getting injured and missing most of two years has really hurt because he is/was the best of the bunch. We sucked this year, but only have one way to go. When the top teams lose their upperclassman and early NBA entries suddenly our team appears to be much better, especially with the addition of what we miss the most in Zeller, a big man who can score.

If Zeller's as good as you're saying he should be an easy one and doner, right?.....don't get too hyped up before he laces them up with other big guys in college basketball
