Anyone have any updates on these two lakes? I am planning on running to Taylorsville tomorrow and Rough on Sunday. I am mainly just wanting to get some hours on the lower unit, but I will definitely spend some time fishing both. Any updates on how muddy they were today would be appreciated. I know Taylorsville is way up, but I was hoping to put in at the State ramp. At Rough I will probably put in around Laurel Branch. Anybody think I'll catch any at Taylorsville?

Hey If I was you I would stay away from Taylorsville and that is for sure. Only one ramp is open and that is the state park.
Why avoid Taylorsville? Is it that the ramp will be crowded? Is it the debris? I am just curious. I really need to get some hours on the lower unit to break it in before my tournaments start.
I was wondering the exact same thing----can I even launch? I just want to get the boat out and make sure all works good----oh yeah---I want to play around with my new HDS5 GPS.
Rough is stained at the dam with about a foot of visibility and gets increasingly muddier the further toward North Fork you go. I did not fish around Laurel Branch today so I don't know about that area but I would bet that it is very stained to muddy water. The haven't been pulling any water so I didn't see any debris or logs.
Just returned from Taylorsville. Fished for 7 hours and maybe had one bite between two of us. It was tough to launch with the water so high. There was some debris around the ramp, but the rest of the lake was pretty clear. The water was muddy to very stained with the best visibility around 6"-12". The wind was the worst part though, it was pretty brutal out there today. I must be a glutton for punishment because I'm headed to Rough in the morning. I'll post a report when I get back.
fished rough today. fished peter cave to little clifty. muddy 49 deg. 1 nibble. put in at laurel but had turn in handycap water is at turn around. good luck tommorow
Hey 84, wanted to thank you for the Taylorsville recon. Curious about where you put in. (Possum ridge?) Good luck at Rough tomorrow.Just returned from Taylorsville. I did put in at Possum Ridge. The water was so high you had to pull your boat up to the concrete to drop someone off. It was very easy to do some damage today. I am thankful that I didnt do any damage and got to run the boat.
Thanks for the info. on Rough, I knew that it was 7' up nice to here that someone had been out trying to fish and what the water temp. and color is THANKS![]()
Fished Rough today. Between three of us we caught three largmouths and two hybrids. We didn't have any bites until 4pm. We decided to hit the Axtel area and finally did some good with crankbaits. The water was up in the trees and we just couldn't find any fish up near the bank. Hopefully it gets going by next weekend.
