My next door neighbor went yesterday and him and a freind fished from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm---10 bass total but with a 9 1/2 pd kicker. Told me it was caught on a crawfish colored crankbait about 10 foot off the bank. Could not pry out of him what lake he was at. Thats ok--less info next time i find some good ones ! Lol. Anyway i saw pictures of it..what a hog ! Cant wait to get out there and find my own big-o-bass. Tight lines all,jc

I guess every lure has a time and a place. I only fish crankbaits about 30 % off the time.
Biggest Largemouth I've even seen caught came from a firetiger flat A bomber.
My buddy waterboy though he was hooked on a log.....that is until that log exploded like a FIRECRACKER.
that log weighed nearly 10lbs..........
BooYA.

Embrey,
spring is not the time to give up on cranks.
I used to hate crankbaits to but they have become one of my fav. Baits. And my biggest bass came on a red crawdad crankbait two years ago in April and it was 7.8 pounds. So now I have a lot of confidence in a crankbait that I didn't have before and I always have one tied on. So don't give up on them yet don't be afraid to get them hung up and bump them off the bottom. Get a pocket knocker it helps a lot.
Agreed i find my self using them more and more hell caught a 5lber last night on a red eye supershad.. Its the jigs you gotta give up onI used to hate crankbaits to but they have become one of my fav. Baits. I don't fish tournaments so it's easy (easier) for me to NOT give up on any type of lure, whether it be cranks, jigs, spinnerbaits or whatever. There have been times that I have gotten down right stubborn about using a certain lure that hasn't done much for me in the past, I'll tie it on and fish with it till I catch something. I'll try everything I've read in the books, etc...until I feel good about using the lure.
On the flip side though, we all have our favorite go to lures during different times of year, at different lakes, etc.
Red craw crank, I bet I know where that one came from to, wink......I used to hate crankbaits to but they have become one of my fav. Baits.
