State Record Largemouth?

I spoke with a co-worker whose son works for ky fish and wildlife and asked if he would inquire about the catch. His son was unaware, but texted three of his co-workers who confirmed that a 14.3 was indeed caught at Lake Malone. Oh my what a fish.

i have purchased all the land surrounding malone, i will start allowing limited fishing in the fall of 2011......
congrats to the lucky angler.....i cant express my feelings about this event....really i cant , peter would ban me for life !

Has anyone heard that a 14+ largemouth was caught/weighed in at Lake Malone this past weekend? A co-worker of mine phoned with this news this evening. I know how easily rumors get started so I was searching for any verification. I have predicted that Malone would produce the next record, but I was hoping it would be mine.

I don't doubt that there is one out there in KY waters. However, I am very skeptical that a 14 pounder was caught/weighed in this past weekend. We would have heard something through the KDFW/Newspapers, there would be pictures and everyone would be talking about it. Honestly this is the only place I've heard this story and I'm not calling you liar by any means, just saying I'm not buying it!

I just spoke to the person in charge of state record fish for KDFWR by phone about five minutes ago. He hasn't heard of a 14 pound Lake Malone fish, and has not recieved any application for it or anything. Nobody in Frankfort knows about this alleged fish, my guess is it didn't happen just another one of those popular rumors that get started. I also left a voice mail for the biologist in charge of the lake. I will let you know when I hear something back.

I just got a message from my friend at KDFWR and he pretty much said the same thing as Tim. He said they did however get word of a 10 pounder but no pictures or anything were recorded.

this statement sounds about right, on here you can hear a lot of stories of big catches of 7, 8, 9 pound bass without any pictures. if I caught a 8 pound bass, and I didn't have a camera. I would get a picture of it. if I had to stop every person I came to, until I found someone with a camera.

Heaven forbid you post on this website about catching a good fish without pictures...I had one guy basically call me a liar a couple months ago about a 6 pound brownie out of dale....then i posted the pictures and he shut his mouth

I spoke with a fisheries biologist from KDFWR tonight and he said the story is bogus. He said what I think everyone here already suspects; that is, if this were true then there would be pictures and other stuff all over not only local media but state-wide.

Actually it wasn't.....thats the funny thing about the whole story....I wasn't even the one who caught it....it was the guy in the boat with me
