I knew that's what she caught it on at Seven Springs - but I didn't know she found that bait floating in the river. I used to have 8 in 4 different finishes - only have 3 old ones now...my favorite top water of all time!I know Jennifer Schultz, who caught the 14lb Indiana state record bass. She caught it on an old, five-or-six-inch Pop-R that had been found the previous day floating in the Ohio River. She complains that they don't make that size anymore. You're right that it's a great bait!
Berkley Power Hogs in Natural Pro Blue. I caught an unbelievable amount of Large & Smallmouth on it. With just a hint of moonlight or full didn't matter. They would absolutley hammer it.
The old real looking Bagleies with the wetghted bills.![]()
Color Blue White Clear, Had a mirrow inside it or piece of crome. Think it was called a Midnite Shad. Worked like walk the dog motion Different rattle. Had Bill Dance or Jimmy Huston Name on it. Its not the same bait as Zell Rowland. The ball inside the bait would wear out and stick in the tail when you cast it. I thought it was called MR Twister. The crome inside had a red streek on it that made it look like a blood vain.Walmart used to sell them. Anybody got any new ones? The other colors dont work
Rebel Minnow (jerkbait) white belly/silver sides/chartreuse back (Herrington Bass)
Wiggle Wart - Baby Bass w/yellow belly (Herrington Bass)
Hot-n-Tot - with metal lip (Taylorsville Hybrids)
Silver Buddy - painted all white (Taylorsville Hybrids)
Had to resort to painting my own Rebel Minnows. May have one Wiggle Wart BB/yb left (somewhere in my tackleboxes). May still have some metal lipped Hot-n-Tots & "white" Silver Buddys. But, if I was chasing Bass as much as I used to ... and the Hybrids of Taylorsville were still large & in charge ... these four baits would be on my list. They accounted for many a large Bass or Hybrid Striper, back in the day.
Lucky for the Bass/Hybrids, I took up Crappie fishing a few decades back. LOL !!
... pappy
Any of these baits mentioned are available at the Kentucky area Lure Swap Meets that are held in late Winter. At the Taylorsville Lure Swap Meet, I know that there were the original Bass Magnets, Large Rebel Pop-"R's" and other baits that were mentioned as well as other hard to find baits not mentioned. There were the original Bagley Baits still in original packages (the ones that were made by Jim Bagley in Winter Haven)
Guys, if your are not attending these meets, you are missing out on a chance to pick up the hard to find baits as well colors!
Mark your calendar for next February to attend Taylorsville Lure Swap meet.![]()

Mr. Twister salty poc it dads, or wal mart BC softcraws. Any color.
Berkley Powerbait Squirmers in 10" red shad.
(Bill) Dance's Craw. I'm not big on jig fishing but I managed to land quite a few bass on it. I bought two when I was about 15. Lent my gear to my dad 1 single time and he lost both of them in the rocks.![]()
I still have one of those and I also have caught some big fish with it.
Bill![]()
How about the old Berkly tournemt worms that had a tab that held the tail until you were ready to use it?![]()
