    Prayers needed...

Boys and Girls, I know I bust some chops when it comes to College Basketball but I also know I am busting chops of people that are good friends and fellow fishermen. It is 5am and seems like an eternity ago when the UK and U of L basketball games were ending. But in the big scheme of life, who really cares what happens in a basketball game. UK could lose every single basketball game from now to eternity and it would not matter in the big scheme of life. In the past 6 hours I have traveled an hour plus in each direction to pick up my 7 week old granddaughter for my Daughter has decided it would be better if we took care of her instead of herself. My Daughter has not made the best choices in life over the past couple of years, but it was not and has not been for the teachings and parenting that she got from myself and my wife. She packed up pretty much everything of Kenzie's and we loaded it into my Explorer at midnight. It was an hour plus long journey just her and I on the way back and I had to stop 3 times to help her calm down and go back to sleep but we made it. Here it is 5am and little Kenzie does not have a clue as to what is going on and why her Mother is not here. My daughter says it is best for us to take care of her while she gets her life in order. I say "she says" because she could change her mind tomorrow. Either way, my daughter could use the prayers to help her make the correct decisions in life because it is not just her life she is impacting but a little 7 week old as well. One thing is for sure and is proven by every trial and tribulation that happens, nothing is forever and life changes at the drop of a hat.

Yea I hear ya....heck with sports of any kind, I seriously could give a squat less about UK, UL, IU, Illini, football, basketball, college, professional or whatever...it's all a waste of time in my opinion. The real deal is exactly what you're talking about...sorry to hear about what God has thrown in your lap this time. I really don't know you at all Elwood...but I can tell you with 100% confidence that in some cases it simply does not matter how good of an upbringing a child has, in some cases a child who was reared in a good solid home just has to go out there and make his or her mistakes and HOPEFULLY he or she will learn from their mistakes.

I have a couple of examples of it in my own family...my sister's daughter (my niece) had three kids by three different sperm donor's...none of them (including my niece) were capable of being responsible for raising children, long story short my sister got stuck with raising not only her own daughter but also her three grandchildren. She raised them from the ages of about 2 years, 4 years and 6 years on up to high school level, at which point nature took it's course, all three kids got to be pretty good size for the britches they wore and they too made some of their own life changing decisions.

Another example...I have two step-kids, a boy and a girl...my wife is the epitome of the perfect mom, look up the phrase perfect mom and you will see a picture of my wife, she raised a beautiful young lady who turns 26 this year...she also raised a son who has been sitting in the Jefferson County Corrections center since July of 2010 awaiting his trial/hearing before going on to the big house. Two kids, same mom, same step-dad but totally 100% different as night and day.

I'm just giving you these examples to let you know that you're definitely alone in this ordeal. We never really know for sure what our plans in life are. Just take it one day at a time and take things as they get handed to you. Heck Elwood, with all the surgery crap you've been through I'd say....well....I don't know what to say except that I know you and your wife are going to do the best you know how with the means you have available.

Elwood, when I'm feeling put upon, and asking why me? You post.I'm lucky enough to have had two great children, who have themselves raised steady young adults who will no problem to their parents. After my first wife died, almost a year later I met a wonderful woman when it became apparent that I was serious and not looking for a shack job, she told mr she had baggage. Then began a tale that would have made scheherazd envious.4 of 5 kids on drugs, one facing life in prison, three divorces, and she bought an old house that she loved because of the trees and lilacs. She said I was a nice guy who didn't need her problems, but the arabian nights, I needed to see how this hand would play out.Pneumonia twic for her, menningitis once, copd, macular degeneration starting, and finally cancer. Those three divorces were her children. One of the saddest things I remember was the last visit to her imprisoned son, on the way home she said her woes would soon be over, but she asked me to always write to her son, and try to help him as much as I could,I visit him, not as often as I'd like to.and writye him often. He has all his life to pay for his mistakes, and it wont get any better,

Prayers sent Billy for all of you. I am no doctor, but with the baby not being very old could this be a case of post partum depression with your daughter? Just a thought.

    Re: Prayers needed...

What is the old saying "You can't ever go home again or is it You can always go home again", either way, looks like I have my daughter and granddaughter living with us as of Sunday. At least I know my daughter is somewhere safe and not laying in a gutter, crack house or worse. So now it looks like I have a 22, 20, 7 and 2 month old. I got the 3-P's, and that is not a 3 point shot or three peat, that is the Puke, Poop and Pee on me Saturday night about 2am. Let me tell you, for 2 months old (tomorrow) she has better aim than Jimmer, Kimba, Preston, Brandon or anyone else past present or future in the NCAA's. She got me on the shoulder with the 3/4 burp and 1/4 vurp, then on the left thigh with the latter 2 P's. I changed 3 sleepers, 3 diapers and she was literally laughing at me as she did the projectile crapola on me. I did not think it was too funny but at least she did. Took my daughter to Winchester today and she had to get her wisdom teeth extracted and took my granddaughter for her 2 month shots. I am living in the "Estrogen Hell" as Bill Engvall (sp of Blue Collar Comedy) said. Looks like my 7 yr old son better grow up fast for I need a little help against the 4 girls, but I think he is on their side as well ( momma's boy ) and I am fine with it. I got big shoulders and a big behind so I can take a lot but WISH ME LUCK

    GOOD LUCK!!

A while back you were posting about "what is the meaning of life." If you don't mind my asking, are you finding your answer in all of this? Just wonderin'...
