Are you sure about that Woody, I would say things are about even in that category over the last decade, except U of L has one more NIT appearance than the cats and one more final four appearance. What is even funnier is even on our 3rd coach in 5 years, UK is still head and shoulders above Louisville that has had the same coach for 10 years. What is after GAME SET MATCH, I guess another GAME SET MATCH
You keep throwing the excuses out there and they will still be shot down one after the other. Best team in history, Best team last year, Best team this year..........I guess even a blind squirrel will find a nut every now and then so keep on trying Louisville and you may just find a nut eventually, not in this tourney but eventually
I stand corrected Tim. You are absolutely correct in that the results are about even over the last decade even with our ever revolving door of Head Coaches and you Granite stability at Head Coach. But if the "results" are the same over the past decade, taking the Head Coaches out of the equation, and UK went to the Elite 8 last year and is still alive this year with the Number 1 recruiting class coming in next year, somehow it seems the pendulum is a bit if not a LOT towards the Big Blue side, BUT for all intensive purposes and to end the debate, we will say that both programs are "about" even, wink wink
What year was Louisville's last Championship? 1986 wasn't it? And you guys flap about 1998.........................![]()
There's my Tag Team Partner. But wasn't it 1996, 1997 and 1998, but the first 2 actually count towards Louisville's total since it was "THEIR" coach that won it in 1996 and lost in OT in 1997. So I guess, it would be nice of us to take down the 1996 NCAA Champion Banner and the 1997 NCAA Runner-Up Banner and hang them in the Yum Center. I guess we could take down 2 of them and give them to Louisville so they would double their total to 4, but we would still be 1 ahead with 5. Hell, somebody go take them down and I will get the Cardinal Red spraypaint because being 1 ahead with their outlook is still a lock for life. Boy I am hungry, Somebody get me a 3 Piece Original Recipe, with a side of Nachos Bellgrande, a 2 piece Fish and More and an Ice Cold Pepsi to wash it all down with.
I'm not a Louisville fan by any means but the way some people post on here you'd think Kentucky hasn't even lost a game in over a decade. Compare that to reality, which is they haven't won a title since 1998. The distance between reality and some fans' perception of how great they are is several galaxies.
I was a pretty big uk fan in the pitino and tubby years. I didn't mind Gillespie. I don't like calipari so I don't root for uk as much. It's ok to be a homer, but sometimes the prescription blinders over the eyes gets a tad too thick. Every team has those type fans.
I try to be more objective than subjective.
Prowler, when dealing with a lot of UK fans you have to keep in mind that they are missing objectivity, as well as teeth and education in most cases but I digress!

I just like a decent discussion about sports. I've had many of them with uk fans, iu fans, and Louisville fans. I'm channel swapping as we speak. My all- bird mascot title game would be the st.peters peacocks vs. Long island blackbirds. Kansas on a little run right now and defense clearly optional in the north Carolina / long island game.
But back to the thread topic I think pitino has at least two years left in him. I couldnt believe he was only 58 years old.
OMG....Tim this statement fits you to a T man..........Cause I swear you only see Red and nothing else matter's in life except for the fact that U of L is finally in a proven Conference.........![]()
Mills, you really and truly have no clue about any of this do you? Guess what, Louisville won two national title and went to six final fours while being a member of both the Missouri Valley Conference and then the Metro Conference. Seriously, try to keep up and let a little reading comprehension sink in.
Tim, Tim, Tim...
I know that you're just joshin...but brother please...
I can certainly ride your train of thought on "objectivity", because there is no shortage of UK Fans lacking that trait when it comes to discussing basketball. However, please re-evaluate the size of "Big Blue Nation" when you consider the number of teeth and the years of education that lives within it. You've been to the rodeo before, so you know better than make that statement!
I can wear a UK shirt and walk through any airport in this country and generally get a "GO CATS" from somebody...even in Louisville. I'm on a golf course in Austin Texas a few months ago, wearing a UK golf shirt, and some dude that lived on the course starts yelling "C-A-T-S" and directs my attention to the blue flag flying off his deck. I'm UK Alumni and read about the gatherings of other UK Alumni in all corners of the World to watch games. I was sitting in a little dive casino on a Carribean island the size of Bullitt County, watching a UK game on satellite...I start yelling, right about the time some dude across the room started yelling, and we discover that we're both UK fans. He was from Maryland. You know, just as well as I know, that UK fans are numerous...they are everywhere...and they are from all walks of life. You also know, just like I know, that it all grew from a rural/agricultural state like Kentucky, with no professional sports, where folks got behind the program in the early years it was successful when they needed something positive to latch on to. That transcended generations and gave rise to what is arguably the largest, most passionate, most dilusional, unobjective, and raucous college basketball fanbase in the country. Aside from horses and bourbon, what else do we really have to pound our chests about?
P.S. If gold teeth count as missing teeth, your fanbase is missing just as many as ours.I kid, I kid...
I know all of this Prowler, but dang man don't try and rain on my parade today! It is West Virginia against Kentucky today and there are so many stereotypical jokes to be made it is like an early Christmas for me. My team was upset by frickin Morehead for petes sake, don't try and take the rest of my joy out of the tourney!Tim, Tim, Tim...

Also, you guys that have not met me in person do not realize the irony of me making redneck comments about UK fans. Just look where I live, I also chew two packs of Redman a day and hunt and fish all the time. I am the U of L fan base token redneck!![]()
