It is just me, but I never thought Pitino and I had the same moral standards, but if my team just got beaten by another in state university that you were double digit favorites to beat, I would come back with my team and face the music like they had to do. Spring break or no spring break, even if spring break was this week, the team lost on Thursday and returned to Louisville on the same day. That still gave Friday, when school was in session, for them to answer all the questions. Pitino was in the CBS studio at noon on Friday so he could not have answered too many questions on campus or was there to help his players. Just my opinion, but, I would have been with the team or at least at the University making myself available to alumni, boosters, faculty, students or whomever wanted explanations or answers. As far as being visible to help recruiting, under normal circumstances the more visible a coach can be the better, but after you were the lowest seed to lose on the opening day is not the publicity I would be looking for and only see it helping a recruit make his mind up is if he says to himself "man they really need a ton of help, I think I will go there". Getting knocked out in an Elite 8 or even a Sweet 16 game would be a whole lot more understandable for him to show up on the set for at least his team got knocked out by a team that had won a couple other games in the tourney. First round embarrassment after the way Louisville started the game and then for them to take an 8 or 9 pt lead halfway thru the second half only to fold like a tent is another. Sort of looks like Pitino was promoting himself instead of the Louisville Basketball program.

Many of the players flew home after the games. I think you are stretching things a bit looking for some sort of problem that doesn't exist. Sorry Elwood, there was no team to talk to, no media to address, no boosters to chill with or anything....nothing to see here.

Some of the team flew home, some of the players drove cars home, some of the players stayed behind to watch the other games, the head coach flew to the CBS studios, the other coaches ........... ??? Win as a team Lose as a team, hang national championship banners in the rafters as a team, fly home together after the "toughest loss in Ricky P's coaching history" and face the music as team. Seems to me if they can go there seperate ways after the loss they were not much of a team before the loss. TEAM - Team Expressing Answers with the Masses. My bet is the Masses at Louisville and all that follow the team was wanting some answers to the questions. I know from the Big Blue Nation, there are plenty of questions after losses, especially if one was as embarrassing as the one Louisville had. Maybe that is another difference between the programs, One wants Championships and answers as to why they are not won and another is happy with profits and are not concerned as to why losses happen.

That is bull Woody and I think you know it. This would have happened regardless of what major program it was, you just want to single Pitino out. You don't think the attention-harlot coach you have would have done the same thing in this situation? He did come back to Louisville with the members of the team that came back before he flew back out. What we have here is a non-issue that you are trying to make a big deal out of, and then throwing out your coachisms that you learned from the Upward youth sports program so that you can justify it.

Btw There is no "I" in TEAM. Winning isn't everything, it is the only thing. Teamwork and dedication builds winners blah, blah, blah.

Acting like Kentucky is the only team that wants to win titles is silly to think and pretty ridiculous. of course it is about on par with "We are everybody's Super Bowl" or "Everybody wants to be us" and even as bad as "this is the greatest day in the history of Kentucky basketball."

Which is it, "he flew back with members of the team or is it many of the players flew back"? If they ALL flew back together then say so, but it can't be both ways ALL, MANY, MOST, SOME, FEW or ???? As far as me coaching Upward Sports, YMCA sports or any other, I don't have to learn what a TEAM is from them or you. I learned that about 37 years ago when I was playing pee wee league. Even then the coach did not high tail it out of town after a loss to go audition for his next career. Face it, you keep defending Pitino and Pitino keeps doing stuff to make the program look like the LAUGHING STOCK OF THE STATE OF KENTUCKY. A team that got drilled in the first round AGAIN, a team that is a member of the most OVERRATED conference in america, a team that is in far worse shape than it's in-state rival and their never ending revolving door of coaches. Yes, Kentucky is Everybody's Super Bowl and yes Kentucky does get Everybody's Best Shot and Yes Louisville only wishes it could say the same. Louisville puts fear into NOBODY and after the performance against Morehead State and the performance of the Big East in the NCAA tourney, even NOBODY is a 3 point favorite in the next game. Calipari is the most overrated coach in america, you will not find one single post on this board or any other that I said I was glad he came to UK. For my money, I would have rather had Jay Wright from Villanova, but Cal is the coach and I have to live with that if I choose to continue to support my team. But no way in hell, does the egotistical Calipari jump on the first thing smoking after or the day after the most embarrassing loss in school history to go audition for his next career. Funny thing is, both Pitino and Calipari are 2 of the most overrated coaches in america but the difference is the Cardinal Nation ACCEPT the shortcomings of their head coach, even though he has under-achieved in his 10 years for the Big Blue Nation will have Calipari's head on a platter with an apple stuck in his mouth if he has the same under-achieving results after his first 10 years. Another difference between the two teams and fan base.

Some flew back to louisville and some flew home to begin spring break is my understanding. I don't know the numbers and don't really care. he already faced the media after the loss, but I guess you missed that. He also had a rpess conference in Louisville since the loss, but again I guess you missed it.

"Yes, Kentucky is Everybody's Super Bowl and yes Kentucky does get Everybody's Best Shot " What a bunch of crap LOL! The scary part is, fans like you actually believe that. Let at SEC attendance numbers when UK came to town this year. What did schools draw? 5,000? 3,000. No wonder the UK fans are the laughing stock of the country.

Cal has not had a ten year run anywhere he has been that is better than the 10 years Pitino has had at Louisville.

Well if you don't take away the 2 final 4 appeareances Cal has had. Add everything else together and Coach Cal has sure had a better record than Ricky P. in the last 10 years........

Better record of what? Using ineligible players? Or do you mean all the C-USA teams he beat once all the good teams left the conference? He sure won nothing in that conference before those teams left. Or maybe you mean the N.I.T. Appearances he had? Mills, you make this so easy.

Oh and Mills, the other final four was in 1996, I am pretty sure that is not covered under the last 10 year stipulation, but hey it was fun to think about anyway.

Surely you are not going to sit there behind a keyboard and say UK does not draw in the fans, home / away / neutral site? Surely your not going to use the word "laughing stock" for at least when used by you it is with the fans and not with the TEAM!!!! When Louisville can get enough fans to fill Rupp Arena, maybe they will play a "home" game there. Tennessee hated seeing Thompson Bowling arena so full of Blue and White when the Cats came to town that they no longer sold single game tickets to the UK game, you had to buy it in a set that included the home game before and after Big Blue showed up. YES, Kentucky is everybody's Super Bowl including Louisville. Keeping on reaching and reaching and reaching and maybe someday the state will be 50/50 in fan support, maybe even 51/49 in Louisville's favor and maybe the sky will fall, pigs will fly, cows will jump over the moon, Calipari will get a player without writing a check and Pitino will eat at an Italian restaurant without hitting on the hired help. Dilusional is the word for the day in regards to Louisville fans like yourself if laughing stock is related to fans like myself.
