    Re: WTF

I don't vote, never voted and never will vote for if the left hand don't stab you in the back the right hand will stab you in the heart. So I can't say anything about the leaders of the country, since I did not vote them in or vote against, but with the problems in Middle America to hell with the Middle East.

    Re: WTF

Those cruise missles had expiration dates from last year. It costs too much to destroy them so we might as well save the taxpayer some money. At the same time give our military some realistic training. It's a win- win situation for the U.S. . The Arabs are gonna hate us anyhow. Libya submitted their innocent civilian casualty report to the press before the first missile was fired.

This type of arrogance is disgusting and un-American.

We had help in establishing this great nation, and it is our duty to return the favor to those who also need help in fighting oppression, so that they too can live happy and fulfilling lives as we do so here today.

While I can certainly appreciate that, how come we only do it selectively? There are oppressed people all over the world...why are some worthy of our intervention, while others aren't?

    Re: Really?

I don't think it was the United States decision to go to Libya, not 100% anyway. I think we're there mainly because the United Nations voted it to happen. Sooooo....how come we have to be the one's leading the charge? How come we can't say to the U.N.; "Ok, look here fella's....the United States has a cripling economy that still isn't hitting on all eight cylinders yet, we're kind of broke, we're kind of on hard times ourselves. But tell you all what...you all go ahead and lead the charge and if worse comes to worse we'll have your backs, we'll come and help out if needed."

Because we have the greatest military in the world, that's why. The US can get the job done the quickest and cleanest, and with the fewest casualties.

When you're the best, you're in high demand.

We will get our money back for helping out, but you probably won't ever hear about it. Gaining allies and forming alliances with other countries can pay massive dividends and are hard to put a monetary value on. It's good to have friends, just in case something goes wrong at home.

A couple things bother me about this Libyan deployment.

1.......Obama is using the War Powers ACT to do this, yet, he RAILED against Bush for doing the very same thing. BTW.........in Bush 1 and Bush 2 cases, they both ASKED and got approval from Congress first. Clinton and Obama both did nothing to inform congress.........hm.

2.......Obama is WHERE.........he's in Brazil. WTF......

3.......Please Mr Obama. Where is the endgame. What is the Strategy. HOW WILL THIS HELP. All legitimate questions, that were also asked of BUSH??

Funny how Obama is getting a pass.

    later,

We will supply the weapons and help the Lybian Rebels overthrow the oppressive dictator. If I am not mistaken some or most of these Lybian rebels fighting Kadafi are Taliban or Al Qada.

Someday we will be picking up our dead soldiers and find that these weapons we supplied have been turned on us. Deja Vu.

    That actually did happen...

In announcing the mission during a visit to Brazil, President Barack Obama said he was reluctant to resort to force but was convinced it was necessary to save the lives of civilians. He reiterated that he would not send American ground troops to Libya.

“We cannot stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people there will be no mercy,” he said in Brasilia.

It was clear the U.S. intended to limit its role in the Libya intervention, focusing first on disabling or otherwise silencing Libyan air defenses, and then leaving it to European and perhaps Arab countries to enforce a no-fly zone over the North African nation.
