Well I returned home today from Ky Lake and to say the least it was a tough 12 days of fishing. I got a head start on the group and headed down a few days early for some fishing with dad. You see my dad does not fish, (golfer), so it was and adventure. But we had a great time and he got to see the lake. We even got to meet another member of board, ballcoach1 who was making his first trip to the lake. When the others arrived we fished hard and the trip started off great. On Friday we caught a lot of fish on jerkbaits and jigs. We had 9 keepers weighing 26 pounds. After that the lake started to fill up and the fish caught lock jaw. Over the next few days our group managed to catch some nice size fish but not the numbers I've grown accustomed to on this trip. On Monday my partner wussed out because of the weather so me and another guy headed out. He caught a 6'9oz hog on a jig in 18' of water off a point we now call big bass point. We caught a 6.9, 5.13, and 5lber off that point over the next few days. With Thursday came the wind, warm air and our tournament. Only 2 boats had keepers. One had 4 and we had 2. You see my partner and I are the young guys on the trip. Most of them have been fishing the lake for 20 years or more. So I felt pretty good about the 2nd place finish. Friday was an exciting day. We started out on the LBL side and both me and my partner lost big fish at the boat on jigs. The third guy in the boat was in the lead for big fish for the week and he was the net man. I think he put the hex on us. Then as the day was winding down we headed for Big Bass Point. When we arrived we noticed shad being busted in the back of the bay so we said what the heck. We started flipping the trees and nothing bit. So we started to head out to the point and my partner said, "hey look at those weeds jutting out into the bay". I tossed a spinnerbait a couple of times and nothing happenned. Then I said those famous words we've all said a thousand times, "One more cast" and whack a 2lber. Another cast another fish. 20 minutes later and we had caught 15 with 5 solid keepers. It was a great way to end another fantastic trip to Ky Lake.
