You also have to float or get wet. I've fished at nearly all the bridges crossing it and I don't think I've ever caught one at right at one of the bridges. But get away from where everyone else has been fishing and I've had great times. Some of the spots that look deep at the bridges really aren't more than about 18" to 2' deep.

I havn't got in the creek yet, just fished the banks. Might need to bring down some waders or kayak next time I try to fish there.

While the depth is typically between 3-4 ft there are holes over 6 ft so beware. Try to find the areas where the water is moving as this is where the smallies will be. You also have to be ready for them 5-10 Lb drum that will take you by surprise but are fun as hell to catch on 4 Lb line. And always fish upstream. Good Luck!!

In regards to the post about gigging. Do you gig while wading or from a canoe. I have an area by my house that always holds drum in about 3 ft of water. I have tried a couple of times but have never had success.
    I always wade when giging.

Yeah I think you almost have to get in to have success. Warning if you fish the banks in the summer time as sting weeds love creek banks. Ive been in tears trying to get through them in shorts, will never make that mistake again, EVER.

Nice job on the 4 lber. Ive caught some decent ones and have had some nicer ones get away. I think I need to throw larger baits for the bigger fish and to avoid the pesky little sunfish. May I ask you what you caught that big one on.

    How's the water lately?

I have not been there this year but my experience has been to wait two or three days after heavy rain. You don't want to be one there when the water is moving fast; unless you are just enjoying a day of kayaking. The best time is when the water is deep pools is moving slow and steady; spots with rock bottom are clearest and have the best fishing. You will at times want to pull off in fast water and fish in the fast moving channels from shore spots to see if any fish are in there. Or turn around at the end of a run and cast back to the rapids.
