Plastics

I am mostly a crankbait guy. However, just recently I have gotten into throwing worms, brushhogs, etc. I was just curious to know if any of you out there know good plastics to throw or if there are certain techniques that work better than others.

I really enjoy throwing Gary Yamamoto 5" senkos. You can rig them Texas style or wacky, and I personally always fish them weightless. Cast it out and let it hit the bottom, then give it a few bumps and let it sit again. With these worms I like to use gamakatsu 4/0 extra wide gap hooks. You can find these at bass pro or dicks- bass pro has a larger selection, dicks has a better price. I like the pumpkin with black fleck color. Good luck.

Cant go wrong with zoom plastics, their cheaper and work great! cant count the number of fish ive caught on all types of zoom plastics from brush hogs to worms to lizards etc.

I like the slurpies 5" dipstick worm, the bait doesnt last long but the action is good. Also like Yum Dinger 4" stick worms. I think plastics is the way to go.

If i was a beginner at throwing plastics i would have some zoom speed craws for sure. They have great action.

I fish for smallmouth more than anything and over the last 3 years, about the only plastics I've used have been Zoom baby brush hawgs and Sweet Beavers. I've got a box full of plastic worms that I hardly ever touch anymore!

Gary Yamamoto Senkos are great, but there are plenty of copies that are just as good, if not better, and far cheaper. The Yum Dinger has been the best of all the different brands I've tried, and readily available at Wal-Mart or most tackle stores.

Ky.jonboatfisher has said it all! They are my favorite plastic. Just yesterday I went out to a pond with a friend of mine to fish for an few hours. My buddy had two fish i had none. Tied on a zoom brush hog and hammered one the 4th cast!

Exactly how I see it! They also put them on clearance a few times a year and when they do I load up! It's my favorite bait in Spring when the fish are shallow. I'll toss them weightless with a EWG Gammy and just have a ball.
