I had a freind that turned me on to a attractant used mainly for float and fly fishing called fish dope. Its sort of like a petroleum jell with red flakes and there a 2 different scents but i always use garlic. It stays on you bait better than a spray or liquid. It is expensive and comes in a tube i think 1.5 oz. But 1 tube usually last me all of the fishing season.
I went through a period last year where I couldn't get the fish to hang on to the bait....I'd take a jardown and set the hook with nothing there....did this for a few days before i tried using a scent....once i started using it, it seemed like i couldnt get the fish to let go....whether the scent had anything to do with it, I'll always be using scent on my soft plastics from now on
I use Strike Force Attractant. Seems to really make a difference at times.

I have never used scents, sounds like I might have to give it a shot.
I've used them ever since fish formula came out, i think that was in the late 70's or early 80's. I'm a believer in them. Now i use either bang, yum, or spike-it. I've also had some luck with kickin' bass.
i use them some, but i think its a gimmick. i dont think it hurts anything either.
