Water in lower unit

I just changed the lube in the lower unit today(1997 Johnson 115hp) and when I removed the lower screw,about 10ml of water came out. The oil looked good(not milky) and was smooth to the touch when rubbed between my fingers and no shavings of metal on the magnets.

Is this normal or should I be concerned? Could condensation alone cause this small amount( less than 2 teaspoonsful) of water?

New plastic washers were installed the last time I changed the lower lube.

It wouldn't be milky if it's sat long enough to seperate out.

If the lower unit is fully sealed, there shouldn't be any condensation.

You should change your lower unit in the fall for this very reason, water in the lower unit can freeze and bust it.

I too had water in my lower unit when I changed it this fall. Probably got into some old fishing line and it ate out my seals. Will be getting those seals replaced in a few weeks.
