Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Two huge lakes to choose from, lots of activities for the whole family.

Check the following lonk for local places to stay:

I've Stayed at Dale Hollow State Park Lodge plenty of times, as well as Lake Cumberland State Park. If I was taking the family I'd probably choose Lake Cumberland State Park because they have trails you can hike along, plenty of other stuff too, plenty of wildlife, deer, wild turkey, etc. Dale Hollow State Park doesn't seem to have as much for my liking, but the fishing at Dale is waaaay better than Cumberland. Both parks are nice though, very reasonable, Cumberland has an indoor pool whereas Dale has an outdoor pool and a golf course if you like to play golf (I don't), both have good food, etc.

When it comes to State Parks, Barkley Lodge is by far my favorite. They have a HUGE outdoor pool. The restaurant is up high enough that you can see a great ways out over the lake while enjoying dinner. The golf course is nice. There is also a trap range and several other activities that not all others offer. During the summer months, there are organized recreation events for kids (pool games, scavenger hunts, etc.). There's an arcade with ping pong and such. The fishing is great in Little River. The marina has had some nice upgrades over the last few years. The cabins are nice too. Even a beach too. Free fireworks show 4th of July weekend.

I have never fished at Buckhorn or Dewey but have stayed in the lodge and cabins at both. They are both nice but if I were to choose I would go with Jenny Wiley they have a golf course and ampitheater. The scenary is better down there and has hiking trails.
