    Life Jackets

Need some input on pfd"s..... I'm a 300lb man that can no longer swim because of heart problems and need to know what type of vest to buy that will keep may big butt on top of the water. Have made promise to family I will wear while on water. Any help would be greatly helpful thanks in advance

I believe that one of the self inflaitables might be rated to your size and will be much more comfortable to wear!!!!!

Get a Mustang PFD with HIT - they have to be submerged in water before they activate - they do not activate from rain or humid conditions.

They are comfortable and adjust to fit the larger man - I don't like to use the term "overweight" - I prefer to use the term "under tall" - anyway these PFD's are comfortable - reliable and expensive - but with the cost of boats and all the other fishing gear we all have - a man has to ask himself what's your life worth?

I agree on the self inflateables. I got one this year cause I'm not that small either. And a regular vest is just too bulky. Looking on line you can usually find a good deal. Mine was 108.00 and bass pro wanted 150.00.

Can you manually inflate these also?

I'm 6'-5" and 280 lbs and the Mustang HIT is very comfortable. As said before, they are expensive, but the trigger mechanism is rated for 5 years (most are supposed to be replaced every year). Definitely shop around online if you don't want to pay BPS or Cabelas prices. I found mine 2 years ago for about 30$ less incl shipping. I wear mine in the middle of summer and don't even notice it being there. Definitely worth the investment IMO.
