    Re: Brandon Knight

It all depends on career aspirations to me.

You go to college to prepare you for your career.

If his career aspirations are to play professional basketball, then college has already done it's job. A degree in social work or history or whatever he's majoring in isn't really going to matter much.

Momma could probably be persuaded by a few million reasons why "taking a little time off from classes" might not be the end of the world. The kid is super young...and there is always time to come back and finish off classes if that's what you want to do...especially if you're a millionaire.

If it were me, I'd stay and finish my degree....but I also don't have the ball handling skills and silky smooth release that BK does either.

Brandon Knight with a 4.0 grade average has already completed or will soon his sophmore year in academics at UK. During the pre-game show of the UK-UNC game Oscar Combs spoke with Brandon's father who flatly stated that Brandon will be back next year to finish his degree.
That said anything can happen and I wouldn't turn down the money of a high 1st round draft lottery pick.In fact it's looking more and more like Knight,Lamb, and Jones will all be back to join the #1 recruiting class off Gilchrist,Davis,Teague, and Wiltjier along with Miss State transfer Twanny Beckham,Miller, and Liggins.

I'm still saying Jones is gone....As poorly as he has played, he's still projected to be the number 12 pick in the draft....He acts like he doesn't really want to be playing at UK....I believe Knight will return....he's projected as the number 11 pick and as hard as that is to turn down, the money should still be there next year after he has earned his degree....If Jones leaves, and with Jorts being gone, that leaves UK a glaring hole in the middle....Davis is very slim and won't be able to bang with the big boys...So what does that leave with us with, Eloy Vargas....As much talent as UK will have next year I can see it being a bit of an off year by UK's standards unless Cal can pull a big man out of JUCO

I think Jones is gone and really no big loss. He showed a little spunk against UNC but he keeps pulling David Copperfield disappearing acts throughout the games and year. I think Knight will be back for one more year to get an under graduate degree and then he will satisfy his family for the degree and then gone for the astronomical money in the NBA. I know he missed late game shots at Florida and Arkansas but since then he is absolutely clutch. Him hitting the big shot at the end of the game reminds me of Anthony Epps in the late 90's for Kentucky. Epps no where near had the talent of Knight but he flat out hit clutch late game shots when needed.

Haha I've played some games against Anthony locally....He's probably not what you would call clutch anymore

I can't imagine graduating in two years plus summer schools. That's frickin' amazing without factoring in the commitment of KY basketball. I've heard that he is taking full course loads all year and summer to graduate in two years and go pro. If so, he is one special kid.

I hope he stays, but if it were me, I'd go for the $. A million bucks can pay plenty of college tuition payments.

I would go pro as well. One wrong step could cause a career ending knee injury. With the millions of guaranteed money for first round draft picks, how can a guy turn that down. If Eric Bledsoe is a first round pick then Knight should be a lottery pick

Some of these NBA teams would probably rather the college coaches develop these kids on the Universities dimes rather than thier millions.

    Re: Brandon Knight

The only thing that'll keep Jones and Knight in school will be a lock-out. Education can be finished while making millions, it's just dumb not to jump at that. Staying wouldn't do anything for knight's draft status at all, which would be the only reason to stay another year, so again, it would be a bad move. He'd play the 2 next year behind Teague and he will never be a 2 in the NBA at 6'3", never, so that would be of no benefit to him and this years draft is somewhat weak, especially compared to next years. I would have a tremendous respect for him for putting education first if that happens but I can't imagine that the risks will out-weigh the rewards in the end.
