Gumble does a good job. I think Bilas is the best in the business, but man he railed against VCU getting in the tourney (I thought he was right) and it has come back to bite him.

You know Tim I thought about that to. Here is a question I ask myself every year.
Does the best team win the National Championship and I almost always come to the ''NO'' conclusion. So many factors come into play. Who is peaking at the right time, Who is healthy and fresh. Who gets a few breaks and executes or hits that lucky shot with .8 seconds left to move on and so forth.
Is there another team out there like VCU, maybe a Virginia Tech that did not recieve an invite that if they got in could have made the same run....
Ky is in the final four and they deserve it, the young fellas have worked hard, but if Brandon Knight doesn't hit that lucky bank shot runner in the last few seconds Princeton moves on and Ky goes home. Is Kentucky a better team than Princeton sure they are but they still almost got beat by them.
I don't know what the answer is and some feel the system is broke, but for now ''Win or go Home'' is the only option....

Man has Barkley had a stroke? He is about a slurring goober half the time when he talks.
I don't think there is a legit way to figure who the best team is other than the format it is now. A series like the NBA would work but not in college. Jmo.
Oh I agree Don, but you have to admit with anything like this there will be some flaws.
NOW the BCS system is BAD BAD BAD BROKE.., LOL.
Yeah Barkley and his crew are there for entertainment value only because like some of you said they really don't bring any insight of the college game to the table.
I think Jay Bilas is the best in the business, he has a great understsnding of the game, players, coaches........ and does a great job calling games. Plus he's a Duke grad and he calls them out when no one else will and I give him props for that.
Another commentator I like that I thought would be intolerable is Bob Knight but he does a really good job calling games and tells it like it is. Now Bob Knight in any other situation I can't stand him.
Barkley has been correct on every winner he has picked, seems like the itty bitty east has lived up to it's rep as well................
Barkley does not watch enough college to do the analysis like the others and doesn't have the ability to act like he does. Much better on the NBA telecast.
The other guys are ok. Not so high on Kenny Smith though. I like Bilas and I like Bob Knight doing color. Anybody miss Billy Packer? I like all the tourney announcers and missed **** Enberg doing games this go around.
LOL drink the Kool Aid Kyfanatic, but he would be about middle of the pack in our bracket challenge. heck they should have just used Mills and Elowwd for expert analysis. Barkley has brought nothing to the table other than using the words "s u c k s" and overrated. He doesn't tell you why he thinks anyone is good or bad.
Btw, he picked Kansas to win it all before the tournament started, I guess in your eyes he got it right!![]()
I see where I rank, right down there with the pond scum and Mills. At least I have a leg to stand on when I argue my point and I would NEVER talk up the Hoosiers against Louisville ( I would with both teams would get in a fight in the tunnel before the game and both teams would get ejected) but at least I would NEVER jump aboard the Hoosier bandwagon. Remind me to pull the plug on your boat when I see you on the water Tim.LOL drink the Kool Aid Kyfanatic, but he would be about middle of the pack in our bracket challenge. heck they should have just used Mills and Elowwd for expert analysis. Don't care about Barkley...he's turrible, just turrible. I'm ashamed that we have a lake named after him.
As for the tournament, it's not broken at all. We need to leave it alone. It's one of the few post-season events that we haven't screwed up yet. I wasn't even in favor of the additional play-in games this year. March Madness, in my opinion, is the most special of the post-season events. It is magical, un-predictable, exciting...simply awesome...
Some will make it in, some won't. Whether you have 64 teams or 164 teams, there will always be somebody on the bubble. VCU shouldn't have made it in, but they did...and look at them now. It's special. Without those kinds of stories it is far less special. I don't look at the tournament as "deciding who the best team in the country is"...I see it as deciding who can win the big tournament, based on where they have been seeded by the committee and who they play. It's like a game of poker, because some get dealt a good hand and some get dealt a bad hand. Just part of it. Not perfect, but pretty special to watch nonetheless.

I completely agree....the world series, the nba finals, the super bowl, and the bcs can't hold a candle to march madness....the college kids don't look at it as a job and put everything they have into every game during the tournament....the last second shots, the close games, and teams beating teams that nobody thought they would are what make this tournament so special....i'd rather watch the round of 64 than any of the other major sports championships
The NCAA Tourney has not crowned the best team in a while. During their conference regular seasons, NONE of the Final Four teams won their conference. Butler wins by a couple of points every game, UK was scared to death by Princeton, WVU played them tough, a nailbiter over OSU and then UNC tied it up with a couple of minutes left. UCONN has not killed people in their march to the Final Four. The best teams were Kansas, Duke at full strength and Ohio State but neirher of these will be in the Final Four. We will crown the National Champ who was the best in the tourney, but not the best team in america. How often does the actual best team win the tourney?
UNC a couple of years ago
UNLV
DUKE
UK in 1996, they were the best team in 1997 but Arizona beat them in OT for the title
UK in 1998 was no where near the Best Team
Florida was the best team their 2 year reign
