white with white skirt vary the retrieve speed and pump the rod kind of like yoyoing a rattle trap, also dont be scared to pitch it into the the brush and put a trailer hook on it.
I like the gold blade, gold head and white skirt---use a zoom split tail spinnerbait trail and a stinger hook---sometimes in red. Works good when fish are shallow around structure and grass. That's about the only color I have had luck with. Tried several color combos and can never get bit.
Oh---not all chatterbaits are creat equal---the original, to me, has the most vibration. I I think it is because the blade is attached straight to the head and does not use a split ring between the head and blade. The split ring design cuts down on the vibration---just my opinion.
I also don't like the gawdy frog looking ones or the flashy sticker reflective stuff. I just like the plain ones.
I have use a fluke too---seems to work ok, but my best has been the spinner bait trailer.
Good luck with it.
Oh---if you fish shallow grass----run it over the top of the grass---works great. Had a ball with one on Lake Eufaula over top of flooded grass. And, I used braided line---needed it for getting big fish out of the grass.
