Thought I would try to fish a chatterbait this year. Tried a few times late last year but did not have any luck. Looking for ideas on colors and which trailers to use, if any. Any help will be appreciated.

When they are working its hard too beat them............
you might try the 1/4 ounce size..i remove the skirt and put on some type of small swimming body or grub to give it a small thin profile...good luck

I have good luck with the black and blue 3/8. I will slow swim it pause and the jerk it a couple of times and then pick it back up. When I pick it back up is when I get the most strikes and they hit it hard. I have had good luck with green also. I use the paca craws for trailers. If you fish the ky river the drums will tear it up if you fish it on the rocky points out in front of the creeks.
I was messing around with one in a tournament in GA on West Point Lake, rigged up a white/Gold Blade and put a fluke on it as a trailer. I was throwing it in a stumpfield in about 4 feet of water and caught several nice keepers and a 6.36# Kicker.....thats the only time I've ever had success on the chatterbait. It was the 1st week of April.
I like the fluke trailer as well. I also like a swimbait style trailer on a chatterbait. The Reaction Innovation Little Dipper or Skinny Dipper looks great when matched up on a chatterbait or swim jig.
Well looky here... These will trail well on a chatterbait. And they're ON SALE at Tackle Warehouse today!

I kinda thought it was like the ol banjo minnow.. Haha never had any luck for it..
Here's a question. So should I leave the skirt and add the fluke? Or should I reomve the skirt and fish the fluke on the jig???
If you're going to take the skirt off you'd be almost just as well off fishing a scrounger head with a fluke on it
