In MHO the success of any automation system lies primarily in the hands of the user. I've gotten excellent results with terrible software, and miserable results with what was proposed to be world-class stuff.
I'm particularly suspiscious of COTS stuff. One size fits all, adapted software is almost always a compromise.
No attack on IBM, just a general set of observations about the inductry.
To me, give me a simple database with a simple and straight forward interface to tailor any type query I can think of, and I'm all smiles.
