    Striper Lures

Has anyone ever tried a Heddon Rattlin Spook for the striper night bite? It is about 4 1/2" with a chrome belly and a blue back. It has a real nice rattle to it.

Can't be any worse than any other striper bait. Sometimes when it is quiet I wonder if the rattle is "too" much for them, but one never knows. My favorite striper bait ever had a subtle rattle.

I find that the best striper bait is whatever they are hitting at the current moment.... (usually bucktails for me!).

you could throw a spook, and you will get some blowups, but....they miss a spook in the daylight , they miss it 10 times worse at night. and for me at least, the walleye just wont hit a spook , i hate to rob my chances of the walleye bight. thats just me.

p.s under the right conditions there is no better striper lure than the flitterbait. ive thrown everything there is to throw for over 30 yrs, redfins, thundersticks, shad raps, slivers, but that ang flitterbait is unbelieveable, they crush it when they hit it.

If you want to throw that spook at night for stripers I would suggest just slow waking it (like you would a red fin) with a twitch every so often. Once it gets 5-10 feet off the bank, slowly start walking it.

    Re: Striper Lures

take the bomber magnum with a black or green back, and if they are hitting anything on topwater. it will do the trick. and take the black back sliver bait. the one about 8" long and if they are not taking the topwater bait. use the sliver crank it slow were it runs just under the surface and get your limit and your frends limit, if you have one with you. these are the only two baits I use for striper at night when the shad are doing their thing. and fish them as close to the rock bluff walls as you can. cast and bring them back in line with the rock walls. hope this helps you.
