Re: SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

So are you trying to tell me the SEC is the best conference in the country? If so, you must be on the powerful meds today.

Re: SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

Georgia and Tennessee were beaten by teams seeded higher than them. Vandy was the only SEC team upset in the First Round. Florida was upset by an 8 seeded Butler team in the Elite 8. Kentucky, seeded #4, beat a #5 seeded West Virginia team then #1 seeded Ohio State, Big Ten champs, and then #2 seeded North Carolina, ACC Regular Season Champs. SEC is 6-4 overall and soon to be 8-4 and a National Championsip Team in the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Big Least put 11 teams in the tourney. That faired:

Villanova out in round 1, seeded 9 lost to 8 seed
West Virginia went 1-1, beat the team they should lost to a higher seeded team
Marquette went 2-1, upset 2 teams and lost to a higher seeded team
Syracuse went 1-1, beat the team they should lost to lower seeded Marquette
Louisville out in round 1 to a lower seeded team
Georgetown out in round 1 to a lower seeded team
Notre Dame went 1-1, beat a team they should then lost to a lower seeded team
Pitt went 1-1, beat a team they should then lost to a lower seeded team
St Johns out in round 1, lost to a lower seeded team
Cincinnati went 1-1, beat a tean they should then lost to a higher seeded UCONN team
UCONN is 4-0, beating 3 teams seeded lower than them and 1 team higher than them

11-10 overall, really 11 total victories with UCONN having 4 of them out of 11 teams. Thank goodness for Marquette upsetting 2 teams or they would have a losing record overall. Only 1 team made the Elite 8. Syracuse, Louisville, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and St Johns were all beaten by teams seeded lower than themselves. 6 out of 11 teams sent home in games they were favored. Villanova could be included in this group for they were a 9 seed beaten by an 8 seed but the betting line had Villanova a favorite in the game, but by using the seeding only more than half the teams in the Big East were eliminated by teams seede lower than them. Not just an 8-9 or 7-10, were talking 11 over a 3, 13 over a 4, 11 over a 6, 10 over a 2, 8 over a 1 and another 11 over a 6. 5 teams in the Big East were eliminated by double digit seeded teams. The #1 seed was eliminated by an 8.

The proof is in the pudding. The SEC had 2 teams out of 5 eliminated by lower seeded teams vs 6 teams out of 11 were eliminated by lower seeded teams. The SEC had 1 team out of 5 eliminated by a double digit seeded team vs the Big East had 5 out of 11 teams were eliminated by double digit seeded teams.

The Top 5 teams that finished the regular season in the Big East, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Louisville, St Johns and Syracuse were all eliminated by DOUBLE DIGIT SEEDED TEAMS.

I am not saying the SEC is the BEST conference in america but the proof says that the Big East sure in the hell is not the BEST conference in america. A one and done tournament may not always crown the best team the National Title but when that one and done tournament knocks out the top 5 teams in the same conference by double digit seeded team says a lot about that conference. I don't know which conference is the best conference in america but the ACC only had 1 team in the Elite 8 and none in the Final Four, Big Ten had ZERO teams in the Elite 8, Big East had 1 team in the Elite 8 and 1 in the Final Four. Only 1 conference had 2 teams in the Elite 8, put 1 team in the Final Four and the other team lost in OT in their Elite 8 game and that is the SEC. The only conference in america that a play goes this way or that a shot drops here or there and they have 2 teams in the Final Four is the SEC.

There are the facts you can make up your mind.

Still absolutely AMAZED that with all the smack talk that has been done all year long about this team that team this conference that conference that NOBODY has replied supporting 1 side or the other. I know that I will take heat if UK loses either of the next 2 games and especially if they lose tomorrow. But, it just won't mean the same for people to bust your chops after the game than showing total support for or against then bust some chops. I thought for sure there would be at least 8 or 10 that have already replied to this challenge. There must be computers with viruses all over fishin.com or there have been a bunch of smoke and mirrors displayed all year long.

If UCONN loses tomorrow and UK wins the title then the Big East will finish with a .500 record at 11-11 and the SEC will be 8-4. I am just saying. If UCONN wins the title then the Big East will be 13-10 and the SEC finishes at 6-5. Pretty big swing one way or the other, Mediocre SEC or The Big Least awaits somebody.

Another WISE UK and SEC fan stepping up to the plate on the side of the good guys against the evil empire. So far it is just me andyou kid against 1 lonely Big Ten / IU fella who is stepping up and DH'ing for the Big East. Not to worry though, I hear UCONN has about as much chance at beating UK as Indiana did in making the tourney, as did Ohio State did in beating UK, as did any Big Ten, ie Big Zero plus Ten, did in making it past the Sweet 16.

Louisville beat Butler, UK beat UL, UL beat UCONN, UCONN beat UK. How in the world can you determine who is the best conference from that? I dont post much here but Ill take the challenge though! UCONN 68 UK 57!

Another brave soul with guts. Still trying to figure out why an Indiana fan and a fan that does not post much are the only two sticking up for the Big East or against the Big Blue. With all the UK hatred or serious dislikers (if that is even a word) and these are the two with the catfish doughballs to put their alliance against the Big Blue out there for all to see. I commend them

Re: SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

Well srry to go against the grain, but I really feel the first meeting between UCONN and Uk was a fluke..... UK played like crap and Walker scored 29 points.

This UK team is totally different by way of exp. Knight had one of his worst games of his short lived College career. I think he had what, 6 points, 2 or 3 assists and 10 to's .

I say UK wins this game by double digits and I'm an IU fan, but takin the Cats to win.....

Now for the final game, Rooting for a Cats and Butler Match...Glad to see either team win the championship.....

Cats win and it'll keep all the U of L fans crying and moaning for another 9 months and they will continue to be jealous as heck of Big Brother.

If Butler wins..woooot for the Big Time underdog and bring'n the Championship back to the State of Indiana. Even if it isn't coming home to Assembly Hall.....

Re: SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

At least give me this much, after all the "discussions" back and forth all year long between several on here about the best teams and the best conference, we have Mr. Lroberts, devoted IU fan, Mr. parker, self rare poster, are both stepping up against UK and Mr. Trophyhunter, obvious UK fan, and Mr. MsgMills, devoted IU fan, are the only ones that will step up on the UK side. 4 people, 5 counting myself, and NONE of them have been on the side of the Big East all year long in these "discussions". Either the Big East fans are flat out ashamed of their conference for the second year in a row have UNDERACHIEVED when it meant the most or they are flat out scared of UK against UCONN in tonight's game. My bet is BOTH because NOBODY on the Big East side is posting any "discussions" back to mine and that has NOT happened all year long. I would at least post bowing to the greatness of the SEC or put up some kind of "discussion" to debate the facts that I posted. But I guess the arguement that the Big East is the BEST conference has just about as much shot at winning as I would have winning the 2011 Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Contest.

Butler is the best hope that the ENTIRE state of Indiana has at winning a NCAA title. Purdue has a good coach but continues to UNDERACHIEVE at crunch time. Notre Dame losing 5 seniors, the #1, #2, #3 and #5 scorers on the team 52 of the teams 75 points it scored per game and half of their rebounds per game and will only have 2 players back that played more than 10 minutes per game - can you say REBUILDING. Indiana loses 1 Sr who played little but they better put about 70 lbs on incoming recruit Cody Zeller, who at 6'11" and 210 lbs playing against the likes of Sullinger, 270lbs of Ohio State if he returns, will get manhandled on the blocks. DeAndre Liggins weighs 210 at 6'6", Jon Hood weighs 202 at 6'7", Darius Miller weighs 228 at 6'7" all for Kentucky to put Zeller's weight into perspective. IU is still a couple of years away, Crean is a very good coach, and if IU is patient enough will get it turned around but Butler is making them look bad and with IU's tradition even Crean may not make it if serious strides are not made quick.
