Thank you so much for your help monark509.
Welcome to the board. Also, you're about an hour away from Cave Run lake.
Thanks. I don't think I've ever been to Cave Run Lake before, even as a kid. I may have to drive over there sometime. But I've seen Guist Creek Lake in Shelbyville mentioned on here. I hadn't ever heard of it until finding this board. So I may check that place out too (provided I'm able to fish from the shore in some way, no boat)
Welcome aboard.
Welcome...I used to fish Silver Creek in Richmond years ago. There used to be lots of smallies and LMs in there. Also, try and make friends with people that have ponds on their land. There is no better place to learn the skills of fishing than at private ponds...you always catch fish! Good luck!

Welcome to the board! Get out to Jacobson Park right now if you're wanting to catch some bass. Fish a spinnerbait, square bill crankbait or Rat L Trap around the trees. I've not fished it in several years but have caught some nice bass out there in the past. Getting a boat over to the golf couse side will get your best results.
Interesting. I'll try and get out there tomorrow depending on the weather.Welcome to the board! Get out to Jacobson Park right now if you're wanting to catch some bass. I just got back from the Cardome Ramp area on Elkhorn Creek in Georgetown. Fished there for about 45 minutes with no luck.BUT, I went to Sportsman's Warehouse after and got a few things. Picked up some 1/8oz jig heads, Strike King bitsy tubes, Berkley Gulp! (Leeches, worms and shaky shad) along with a small spool of Trilene Fluorocarbon line to try out. All I've ever used is monofilament.
You didn't happen to stop by Backwaters today did you? Someone stopped in when I was checking out and was given a map of the local area. Was that you?Interesting. I'll try and get out there tomorrow depending on the weather.

Jacobson Park and the pond off of Richmond road can produce some fish, mostly smaller unless you get ahold of a cat or carp. You can also hit up the river just south of Lexington but I never had to much luck there. Best fishing I found was in the neighborhood ponds around town. Good Luck!
Thanks for all the help everyone! I went back to Elkhorn this evening but had no luck. Granted, I wasn't there long and it was kind of cold. However I did try the new Trilene Fluorocarbon that I put on both of my reels. Maybe I did something wrong when putting it on the reel but this stuff is terrible. The memory is the worst part. I may go back to the red Cajun monofilament I was using before.
I know there can be a case made for fluorocarbon but I have used it and decided against using it anymore. I'm an excel mono guy and I know it works just fine. Fished it for almost 20 years in many states and many type of cover. The trick to me is paying attention to your line while fishing. I do alot of flipping and pitching so I'm touching my line alot and if I feel a rough spot I'll retie to cut that out. Jmo
