    Re: Motor choice

I've got a 2002 175hp Opti with 330 hrs that's burned 1277 gal of gas. No unscheduled maint issues ever.

Pro: It's the most fuel efficient motor I've ever owned. Starts whether it's 9 deg or 90 deg.

Con: It's the loudest motor I've ever owned.

I'm the original owner. At time of purchase I had a 5 year warranty.

Last week I talked to a guy with a 2005 (hrs ???) 225 Opti that just blew his engine.

The 4 strokes are soooo quiet. A friend has a 130 hp Suzuki. You can't tell it's running unless you see the stream of water. Of course the black, white, blue & gray 4 stroke motors are probably the same. Now then there's Dave's Eco Tech....I'd be leaning toward that brand with no problems and a zillion hours.
