Cedar Creek is turning out just like Taylorsville did in the early 90's. Waste of time. Taylorsvilly was a MECCA back in the day and soon Cedar Creek will be in turmoil in short order unless KDFW gets involved SOON!

I don't see why they would need to change anything. I think this is one of the closest watched lakes by KDFW. They have a plan for the lake and I think they are doing a good job executing that plan. It is one of my favorite lake to fish in the area. I have had very good success there. It does stink about the traffic but you need to go there expecting all of the people. It does get pounded every weekend but its a three hundred acre lake, what do you expect. Go to Guist its the same way. There is so much cover at Cedar, its hard to say what kind of monsters will come out of there in the next couple of years. I have already heard of several eight pounders coming from there this year. I think its more the responsiblity of the anglers fishing that lake to make it successful. But not everyone abides by the rules. As far as the number of boats, you could never put a limit on the lake as far as numbers, but you could make some changes as far as boating laws. And that may be the point you were making. One easy way to limit the number of boats is to put a horsepower limit on the lake. I don't think there is any way to enforce a speed limit but that would help also. JMO
Make it idle speed only during the week so the little boats don't get run over. HP limits won't work it cuts too many people out. Let em fish just slow em down a little.
I agree, make it idle speed only. That's the trick. Works well for Wilgreen lake.
cedar is 784 acres, so it would take awhile to idle from one end to the other. they've made it idle speed in a couple of the creeks near the railroad i think.
it's always crowded this time of the year, so i guess we'll just have to be nice to each other![]()
I don't see any need for the KDFW to get involved, maybe it would be a good idea to make the entire lake "idle speed only". There is no way to limit the number of boats....that's no even practical or sensible. Everyone has a right to fish the lake whenever they choose. When I decide to go there, I go knowing that it's going to be packed! I get there before daylight to get a parking space and just enjoy the day. If I don't want to deal with the crowds, then I simply go elsewhere. There always seems to be plenty of water to fish! I have a couple of friends who are constantly complaining about the crowds. My answer to them is simply either quit complaining, don't worry about the crowds and fish or quit going there all together! Problem solved!
I was out there on Sunday and it looked like a Def Leppard concert out there. There were people in runabouts running wide open just going in circles, it was insane. I for one won't be back, you guys can have it. I can catch big fish and more fish elsewhere without having to deal with all that nonsense. Love the lake but it's just not worth it.
Run abouts should not be there. And yes it will always be crowded but it is not the crowd that bothers me it is almost being thrown out of the boat that bothers me. The way I look at it is there is a 50/50 ratio of considerate fishermen and the idiots that either don't know no better or simple don't care. It is like driving on the road if you have road rage don't come here because if one almost washes you out just wait there will be plenty more to do the same right behind them! I feel bad for the crappie guys in the smaller boat watching people run 100 mph just to go across the lake. Don't get me wrong I like running fast but I always am considerate of everyone out there it makes me have hope that others will com around. Everyone wants to get to their spots as do I but I am not going to wash a another boat up just to get there. IMO.

This I can't see as for myself, I had rather a 150+ hp boat go by me,if both hold theirRun abouts should not be there. path ,on plane wide open, than have them chock it throw a four foot wake that last longer.
How about the rest of you which is worse?
A boater that doesn't have any sense is worse. That could be driving like a fool at top speed or trying to idle throwing a 4 foot wake. If folks had more common sense or courtesy we wouldn't have discussions about it.
It comes down to survival of the mentally tolerant when fishing that lake.![]()
Thank you djd, When someone runs wide open 5 feet from you it is just as bad as throwing off a four ft wakeA boater that doesn't have any sense is worse. And I am talking about while trolling not driving and people running that fast and close to you, completely unnecessary
