Re: Any one have any Tips on bed fishing for Large Mouths

I don't even look for them anymore. I can see more harm than good pulling them off the bed in this state compared to Florida or other more Southern states.

Living in Florida we fished for them alot but you could pull up into an area and see beds everywhere and that was awesome. I mean hundred yard areas loaded with spawning bass. Here you very seldom see that kind of spawn going on.

Would rather catch pre-spawn and post spawn anyway....more fun.

I didn't really give you my two cents on bed fishing baits. I like something small like a small zoom tube or a flick shake worm. I like a smaller bait. It's harder for a fish to move the bait with its mouth without taking the hook also. Any color will do I think as long as you can see the fish take your bait.

Bed fishing is evil and ruins fisheries. Just look at places like Lake Fork and Oceechobee where everybody does it. The only time its ok is when there is money on the line.

    Give me a break.

I don't like to fish for bedding fish, however if your going to compete in a large tourney you must in order to compete, as long as there are tournaments in the bedding season Bfl is sat will be over 100 boats and many will be bed fishing. As long as the water level in Cumberland is unstable most of the beds will be to deep or on the banks.

Not worried about THAT fish. Worried about all the fish that won't make it because of the unprotected bed. I don't understand fishing beds for tourney's anyway. True, you could knock off 5 males at, what, two pounds each. Why not go for the 3-4 pound female that's not far away in deeper water, is finished with her part, and only goes back to check every now and again?
