    Reformatory Lake, Buckner?

My wife works right across the street from this lake in Buckner, it's the one right by the prison. Anyone have any info on this water. Never see anyone fishing there nor any boats?

Absolutely full of fish and there are some very nice bass, bluegill and crappie in that lake. Here's the thing though the general public can only fish the public side/west side. The other side is prison property and can't be fished by the public for obvious reasons.

Take a wild guess where all the good fishing is, lol. It's true because of bank pressure the fish, especially the good ones have all migrated to the other side and really kinda hang there most of the year. Very Early in the spring the public side can be decent at times.

There are no boats allowed on the lake at all for any reason. The only boats that I've ever seen on that lake are the KDFW and they were taking shock surveys and they brought up a few honkers in there to.

Does your wife work at the High School????

Thanks for the scoop! That would sure be a nice lake to put a canoe or jonboat on, but I don't want to end up in the penitentiary! Yep, my wife teaches English at O.C., nice place.

Proud 1980 Graduate here. Your wife has picked a nice school to teach at.

Hit the lake in early mid March with dark colored light jigs with #11 pork. When you think you are going to slow, slow down some more, you'll catch a few and sometimes a decent fish. The other side is the bomb, some of the guards that take inmate details down there to fish catch some really nice fish.

Hey, I am a '79 graduate from OCHS. I used to fish that lake once in a while. One summer evening before the sun went down I had a huge bass on a Johnson Silver Minnow. After playing that bass, probably only for a few seconds, it jumped and spit out my lure. I can still see it like it was yesterday even though it was more like 30 years ago.

There is definitely fish in there, and im sure there are some big ones. Just like one said, they migrate to the other side and plus its a little hard to fish its banks. ( especially with my baitcaster, i get it in a tree and birdnest :P )

They did put in a new dock, and i always see people catch soooo many fish there, but i never done to great.

I've fished the prison side. It has been along time ago. But it's the difference between night and day.
