Of my generation, let's say from 1980 forward, I would take Magic, Bird, Jordan, Tim Duncan and Shaquille O'Neal against any other 5 and like my chances.

Magic was great. Bird and Magic saved the NBA and turned it into the Multi Gazillion Dollar league that it is. All of the players today who make the maximum contract allowed, somewhere around $15 Million a year plus all the endorsement deals need to send royalty checks to Bird and Magic. Their rivalry from the NCAA championship game between Indiana State and Michigan State to the Lakers and Celtics carried the NBA to primetime games and fans from everywhere. HBO or one of the pay movie channels ran a story about the rivalry with interviews with both. It was a really good piece if you can find it to watch.

Take the Lakers from the 80's and the Bulls from the 90's and the Zen Master, who BTW coached BOTH, and combine them...........No other team EVER and in the near future would EVER beat them.......PERIOD.
Best two franchises in history............of course the Lakers in the 2000's were pretty good too.......

I too loved Magic and Larry, truely awesome players. Also very likable as human being's to, more than I can say about some of these today players.
No one can compare to MJ in his day...the man was unstopable! Derrick Rose isn't worthy of holding the man's jock strap IMO.

The NBA has been starving for super stars like Jordan for years. Remember Penny Hardaway? He was supposed to be the next Jordan but was a flop.
Since MJ noone has been able to step up to the plate. The media will thrust anyone who plays well into the spotlight as the next MJ and Rose is just the next one.
Kobe is prolly the best one at being close to MJ's level. Shaq, James, Wade, Garnett and others are good but not quite there.
The 1996 Kentucy Wildcat team was pretty good. They would have been better if there was a decent coach sitting on the bench. (just could not resist)Take the Lakers from the 80's and the Bulls from the 90's and the Zen Master, who BTW coached BOTH, and combine them...........No other team EVER and in the near future would EVER beat them.......PERIOD.
