Is the spawn early, late, or on time?

Just wondering what others thought. Based on your fishing experience this spring would you say the largemouth bass spawn is early, late, or on time this year? And what evidence supports your thoughts? Just wondering how the rain, weather, and repeated floods affected our little green fishies. Thanks!

Water temps seem to have been normal, I don't what the rising falling water will do. Usually most will regardless what the water level is doing.

Late. The rain and water levels will back them off a little bit (Just my opinion). They will start locking in on beds the next 3-5 warm, sunny days we have. They will move in and out in waves... The females will lock in once we have some weather and water temp stability.

I've caught spawning bass in KY as early as late March and as late as Father's Day (mid June). The LM bass spawn is a process, not an event.

I agree with smljaw it will be late. This high water is gonna mess alot of things up, we need a break and we are not gonna get it.

I would think the fear with the rising water is that the fish lay their eggs on places where it will dry out before they hatch and you loose that years crop of fish.

I checked two ponds i fish and seen not much activity seen more bluegill on the banks than bass. I agree spawn not in full swing yet. But its getting close.

I agree with the majority!!! At nolin, i found water temps. Up to 64, weekend before last, (9th, 10th??) last sunday, the warmest i found was 59. Some of the pros say, weather trumps the moon, so i'd guess regardless of water levels, the bass will start spawning at nolin the next time the water gets close to 64...tr

The process has started here in Lex. A few being caught have rubbed tails. Warm stable no lightning and torrential rains will get a wave up and twitterpated.

The biggest fish in our lakes are either spawning right now, or have already spawned. Like everyone says it comes in waves. The big girls go first. I have heard of 6-7lb females being caught off bed at Barren within the past week.
