The fact that the Commerce department is pushing a token for "global" access to financial stuff on your behalf.....

Don't you see that as an intrusion??

    Hmmm.

Let's put everything about me on 1 key that authenticates everywhere I do business online...

Unless you're only going to make 1 copy, then you're going to shove that 1 copy so far up my butt that it could never fall into the wrong hands, I'll pass. I'll just have to remember that "lukeskywalker78" is my email password and "fairyprincess66" gets me into my bank account.

    Thankfully, it's voluntary.

If someone wants your stuff bad enough, they will get it. I mean, the waitress at Texas Roadhouse is gone long enough with my credit card to write it down and buy herself something real nice that night online.

If Americans were micro-chipped at birth with identity badges containing their social security number, we wouldn't have this issue. Throw in a GPS tracker and you're set. George Orwell, 1984. Read it.

Man I'm always paranoid about folks taking my card away from the table to swipe it...not much else I can do but start using cash more often. Old girlfriend had her debit card number stolen and the crooks started shopping like crazy. This just happened last month!! It's scary stuff. The penalty should be so severe even to the point of chain gangs for folks who do that crap.
I have no mercy for crooks.

OK, thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure if it was that, or the identity theft that led to it that you were talking about.

Yes, it would be intrusive, so I won't be signing up for it. Now maybe you can clarify something else for me. WTF does this have to do with the Patriot Act? Participation in that isn't exactly voluntary.
