Re: I got yards to mow

I got my other 3 done AND THEN SOME. As I was mowing my last of the 3, a guy stopped me and said he was a realtor that had 2 properties for sale that the owners had already moved. He said his son normally mows in these situations but his mower broke and the part won't be in until Tuesday. They were close but I was in the middle of mowing and he had to go somewhere. He said they were very close to the same size of the one I was mowing and asked what I charged. I told him this yard was $40. He said he really needed to get them done and offered me $80 to mow them and $40 more for such short notice and would pay me right there on the spot in advance. SOLD what are the addresses? I got the first one done then light was fading so I ran the weedeater first then had to finish mowing with the lights on the mower leading the way, ran the blower in pitch dark and whether there was grass on the driveway or not it got a cleaning because I went over it twice just to make sure.

$220 bucks in the pocket, 5 yards done. Counting the $117.20 that it took yesterday to fill up mommas car and my Explorer and $18 gas in my mowing equipment for the day, I made $84.80, but it could gave been worse. I could have been in UK Hospital with an 8 inch incision after another surgery, but got to work my fat butt a bit and plan on taking my honey to the Olive Garden tonight with the kids to blow the rest, but that's life.

Hope you enjoyed that dinner, Elnut, what a well-earned night out! I was gonna mow my little postage stamp-sized yard yesterday, even though it was still a little damp, until my neighbor two doors uphill decided to let the rainwater out of his pool onto his driveway, which of course flooded the nextdoor neighbor's front yard, and on into mine. At least I don't have to worry about floods, I just get about a 3-inch river through my driveway

Re: I got yards to mow

Spent just about all day yesterday in the yard...

Mowed the whole thing on the highest setting without the bagger to knock it down a bit, then came back and mowed it all again on a lower setting. It's the only way I could get through it. It's so thick, was halfway wet, and about as tall as it had ever been. By the time I trimmed, ran the blower, then pressure-washed all the concrete and brick, I was tuckered. The only good thing about mowing twice is that I cross-hatched it in opposite directions and it looks really nice right now...got a basket-weave going that looks like the infield at Wrigley or something. LOL

I've never aerated my yard - Think I need to, since it's so freakin thick? The TruGreen people come every couple of months and fertilize, de-grub, de-insect, de-weed, spay, neuter, and whatever in the hell else they do to it. I've just never did the aeration thing.

Then, last night, my neighbor calls from Lowe's and says they had some killer deals on a couple of good sized trees....both of us need to replace our street trees, because the city planted duds that died, yet it's our responsibility to replace them. I met him with my truck and picked up a couple of 12' tall Bradford Pears. They are freakin lightning magnets, but that's what is on the street throughout my hood. We get them home and I helped him dig out his dead tree first, which was a job that needed dynamite, a logging chain, and possibly a nuclear warhead. But, we got it out and got his planted. Then did mine, same drill. Broke a shovel in the process. New mulch around all the trees this afternoon, then it's rest time.
