"Fishing is a blood sport that causes physical and psychological suffering,"

Are you kidding me? I have broke off a fish and caught the exact same fish a couple cast later with my lure stuck in his lip!!! There are thousands of shelters that are overrun by animals you would think they could focus on helping them, it's like everything else though we have starving people in the US and yet they spend hundreds of thousands to build flower gardens - we are so messed up

We need PETA to serve as a continual reminder to us that idiots are alive and flourishing on this planet.

I agree with this, every time I go home skunked, I suffer psychologically and I'm always worn out (physical). I guess People Eating Tasty Animals is right.

I dislike PETA as much as any of you guys, but they have NO chance to end college bass fishing....or for that matter the pros either.

I think PETA has it's best chances at the college level than anywhere else. The difference here is that the University encompasses both the bass club member students and PETA member students. With both groups sharing a connection, it could turn into an all out war with protests and such between the two. You would be crazy to think that PETA isn't behind the scenes trying to promote such a scenario. The liberal arts students tend to be more predominantly the PETA members on campus....and are usually the ones controlling the student newspaper and media outlets. Such an example would be the article you posted; it seems to favor PETA in the amount of detail put into it about the research, etc. to go against fishing. I don't think that was a necessary part to be included - I think it was included to help fuel the fire and help PETA build their army. I would like to see some background on the person who wrote the article.

I'm glad it was EKU hit with this given its demographic, for if it had been Louisville it would get ugly REAL fast. Way too many liberal arts kids to combat with at Louisville, and they are VERY radical with their continual KFC protests...lord only knows what they would do against the bass club.

I agree that a college is the type of place where PETA can gain traction. A lot of college kids are just looking for something to do to change the world. I think most of the students and alumni at EKU do not appreciate PETA's message and I hope PETA doesn't cause any problems for a good program like the EKU Bassmasters.

I believe that PETA is its own worst enemy. And don't forget that they are the parent group of ALF (Animal Liberation Front) which has been designated in our country as a terrorist group.
I think the next time they set up to stage a protest of fur we should set up a few recliners in front row. Caged naked women! We could drink beer and eat hotdogs, burgers and pizza while enjoying the free show.
