As of friday gates will close to help out floods on the ohio river, currently 361,expected record of 371 after closing.
Last year at 370 they did close, with each announcement saying less and less water effected,Tn part was not just above ky line then restricted closer and closer to dam area the last several miles.Id check the cg announcements for those closures.

    News Release, April 27

    News Release, April 27
Extreme rainfall and rising lake levels impact LBL

Tennessee Valley Authority and the Corps of Engineers are predicting the lake level for Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake to rise to 371 feet (12 feet over summer pool). The current lake level is 359.9 feet. This will greatly impact boat ramps, campsites (campgrounds, backcountry areas, and self-service areas), trails, and roads within LBL. Impacted areas will be barricaded and closed.
Visitors to Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area (LBL) are encouraged to check the Alerts & Notices page on our website at www.lbl.org or to “Call Before You Haul,” 270-924-2000, for current information and details due to the recent storm damage and the predicted rise in lake levels. Use caution on all roads and lakeside areas in LBL due to possible flooding from rising lake levels and overly saturated soil conditions. LBL staff warns visitors who use the trails, roads, camping areas, and boat ramps to be extremely cautious and observe all closures for your safety. In addition, everyone is urged to use caution when crossing creeks, streams, or any areas with standing or flowing water. All low lying areas should be avoided whenever possible. Gravel roads have the potential to washout during these heavy rain events. Please use extreme caution when traveling on LBL’s gravel roads. Wranglers Campground and Turkey Bay Off-Highway Vehicle Area will remain closed until further notice due to this week’s storm damage.

Boone, Thanks for the link. Wranglers is closed? Hope they open it back up in two weeks On a side note, maybe all that rain washed all the horse poo into the creeks.... LoL... big toilet flush!!

The Coast Guard closes the lake...not Crappie.com. There has been no announcements of lake closings at this time. A friend of mine called the CG at Paducah this morning and they said there is no plans on closing the lake at this time. This is not a guarantee but it is the latest official word.

Dave will you continue to guide over the next few days barring they dont close the lakes? If so how will the levels affect your game plan?

I will do as I always do in this situation, I will fish what I can't see and let everyone else go into the jungles.....more fish will be along the old shoreline than move back into the jungle and easier to catch. Was doing just that today with very good success and I just expect it to get better.

Dave would you still fish the old shoreline if the the water has been up for a couple weeks and the water only had a couple feet of visibility?? Just curious.

    Thanks

I did that during last year's flood with good success...basically fishing the front buck brush that is flooded over.

It was up 10 ft yesterday and I stayed out of the jungle....and caught plenty of fish..does that answer your question.

I might mention also that I had a big copperhead and a cotton mouth swim up close to the boat yesterday when I did get near the jungle...they do not make good boating companions in my book....lol.
