Lake Cumberland Striper Help

Taking the lady down May 9 thru 14 to try our luck on stripers, never fished the lake before.We will be fishing out of Jamestown. How do we get shad, can we buy them or do you need a cast net to get them. Any help would be greatly appreciated, like to see the ole ladys face when she feels the power of the great fish.

Alewives can really be hit and miss in May. If you try, it will be under lights at night with a cast net. You could also try for Gizzards on the flats in the backs of the creeks. I don't know if anyone sells bait out of Jamestown. Someone else may know.. Sometimes the guides will sell some if they are getting extra.
Most people are trying for them at night close to the banks in May. It's been a little more miss than hit the last few years but it may be on with the lake being up.
