I went yesterday (Sunday). I to was thinking the same thing but went anyway. Heavy rain in the morning had some water pushing into the lake. Water was too stained to tell if the fish were on the beds. I started off with a white chatterbait. Was getting short strikes so I put on a trailer hook. Followed up with a white pearl sinko. Caught the average size fish.12-14 inches.
I changed to a yamamoto green pumpkin candy swim sinko. Bigger profile bait. Caught 1 keeper and all fish were shallow. Also caught fish on a 1 minus crankbait.
I started fishing about 8 and left at noon. Total fish caught was 12 and saw many swat at my bait but not strike it. I fished up to the long creek arm on right side.
Most of the fish I caught were in the creeks. Fewer strikes on main lake. Also high winds made it hard to fish a light bait on main lake. Got to get new batteries in the boat for the troller. Not enough juice to stay longer.
How much did that keeper weigh? Cedar has a 20" keeper size limit right?I went yesterday (Sunday). I to was thinking the same thing but went anyway. I went fishing at Beaver Lake. Sorry, should have made that more clear. Yes they did remove alot of fish from Beaver Lake. I have heard 600-1000. Still plenty of fish to be caught though. I hope they get this lake balanced out again. It has the makings of a lake to produce some great fish if they do.
The fishing at Beaver is great. Went Sunday between 10 and 2 30. Water was muddy by th spillway but had nice color everywhere else. I had 22 and my buddy had 24. All but 6 were between 11-14 inches. Biggest boated was a two and a half pounder. Buddy had a fish around four or five throw his bait on the first jump. I am very confident that I could have stayed till five o'clock and caught a hundred. There is still plenty of fish. All our fish were shallow on the main lake. Went about 3/4 of the way to the dam and turned around because the wife said it was time to get home. We still missed around ten a piece with a couple of them that felt like they were good fish. Truthfully, I don't think they put a dent in the population there.
It was my understanding that they only removed 1,000 individual fish...
That boat ramp at beaver is a joke! Cant hardly get a 21ft boat in and out of there.
Sounds like Beaver is still Beaver, glad to hear it.
I hope beaver gets back to like it use to be like, never knowing if you are going to get you arm broke!!!!!!!
