Fished one of the no name pits at Bluegrass FWA and hammered some nice bass . This pit has lots of the really tall grass - Pompas grass ? Anyway , was pitching green pumpkin crazy legs chigger craws right up next to the grass when they hit . First one was 18" about 4lbs. , next was a 22" sow full of eggs , and another 19" five lb. Had 12 dinks , two 15" keepers so it was a great day . Tuesday afternoon the water level was up over the entire concrete part of the launch ramp. But several boats were still able to launch using 4 wheel drive trucks.
The water had dropped some on Sunday but after all that rain we had on Mon and Tue the river and Bluegrass Creek had risen up another foot or two.
Hopefully it will dry out and the water will drop back down into the creeks someday.
going to try and fish otter this weekend if the water goes down since cant fish ky lake
Let us know if you can reach the parking lot without having to drive though any water and if you can launch at the concrete ramp safely.
Today the Ohio is suppose to crest and then do a slow fall. It doesn't take but a one or two foot drop in water level to expose a bunch of that land over there.
I am waiting for the water level to drop down some more. But Otter should be full of fish now with all the flooding. Loon should also have a lot of new fish in there.
I noticed that Bluegrass Creek and the surrounding area flooded much more these last two days after all the rain.
I'll try to check out all the ramps. But it's getting expensive buying gas to get there and back. I'm paying 3 x more for gas and that's just to fill up my small tank 1/2 way.
At least I finally got all the vacuum hose leaks fixed and the truck is running much better. And it starts up most all the time without hesitation. For a while there every time I parked the truck I worried that it would not start up again. And that's worrisome if you are parked next to the rising flood waters! I am anxious to check my gas mileage now that it's running much better. For the last few years it was idling too fast and burning too much gas at stop lights. Now it idles down to 800 rpm or 750 rpm where it's suppose to be. Before it was not getting below 1000 to 1300 rpm. When I had big time trouble with the carb it was not going to less than 3000 or 4000 rpm. I got that fixed when they found some debris in the secondary ports and clean that debris out. After that I noticed it was not running good and fixed the vacuum hose leaks with new vacuum hose.
PS: I had a couple of friends fishing Bluegrass yesterday afternoon around 4:30 pm and they tried the spot where you caught that bass while I watched. They didn't get any bites. They also tried to fish the rip rap part of the road where the water was going over Boonville New Harmony Rd but didn't have any luck. They didn't really fish it that long. I told them to try some plastic baits. Some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you.
