deep cranking???????

Rods definatly make the differance in catching fish with deep cranks. I started playing around with them last year and had the same trouble with losing fish. I went with one of the skeet reese crankin' sticks and it helped me tremendously on my catch to loss ratio. Hang tough with it. I think you will really like them.

I would try a different color crankbait first. When you are throwing the color they want they will choke it. If that doesn't work then change your hooks. Go up one hook size.

I'm agreeing with bassman_ky....Try a subtle change in the color of your crankbait....I've also seen times where the fish just bite weird...Not only on crankbaits but on jigs and worms also, you the big thud and set the hook and there's nothing there...Just keep tinkering with small stuff until you get the exact setup you want

BPS crankin sticks are the way to go. 70 bucks. i used deep divers ALL day in march and early april and never really got tired!! and flouro line of course!

Yeah, I use BPS crankin sticks as well. They are light years ahead of teh KVD that they sell at BPS. The model of KVD rod they carry is the signaure rod, and tey along with the signature reels are absolute trash. If you can spring for the Tour KVD, then you can get a good setup. BUt for teh price, the crankin stick is hard to beat.

You probably want a low speed reel,4.7 or a 5.2 . Try throwing a DD22 all day with a high speed reel. You wont be able to lift your arms!

i have the gloomis crankbait rod(4)total. is the gloomis deep flex worth getting.i have been thinking back, i dont know if i have ever had a bass swallow my crankbait. only lip hook ups. do you think the deep flex will solve that problem or do i need a glass rod? i love my loomis rods but if it will change my catch ratio, i am all for it.

i went to cedar creek today. i had on the biggest bass of my life (6 to 7 lb). he jumped out of the water and then worked him to the boat. about 10ft away he got off. i have the post above. i worked the crankbait slow, and my reel is 5 to1 ratio. i fill that my rod 7ft medium. i keep thinking i need to go with a glass. any help thanks lakebandit

I think sometimes when cranking; the fish I loose are fish I play a little too much. Sometimes you just need to reel them to the boat and get them in; don't let them think.

If you are using a crank with heavier line; you dont usually have to worry about them breaking the line. Your worry is a jump or head shake. I don't think you have the luxury of playing them like you would a one hook set-up; too much too go wrong with the hookset.
