Kudos to Dave for going above and beyond. Everyone be careful out there. It is just fishing and it is hard to fish if you are dead.

Hey,
I just wanted to share a little story from yesterday.
A couple of my friends were on KY lake yesterday, and blew their motor on North KY by the Canal. They called me to see if I knew anyone down at the lake that could help.
The only person I knew that I had a phone number for was Dave Stewart.......I called him and asked if he knew anyone I could call. BEFORE I could get another word out, he asked where they were and said I gotta go.......it's getting LATE..........
He KNEW they could be in serious trouble, and KNEW that the situation could get bad quickly. He and a friend got their boat, and drove around the lake, launched and found them, and then towed them back to the closest ramp.
A HUGE thanks to Dave.
To those who are going out and fishing right now.......MAKE sure your gear is up to par. Had they also had trolling motor issues, they could have been in serious, SERIOUS trouble.
Again,
Dave..........I cannot thank you enough..........
Thanks,
George White

Great job by Mr Stewart that's awesome.
I assume current is what was the concern, elaborate please??
That is awesome Dave! If others of you have seen the movie Pay It Forward, this is your your chance to get involved in the phenomenon!
Thats superb, big motor on ky lake konked right now wouldnt be a good thing.
Am curious aba/bass event scheduled for moors resort, can they launch out of the parking lot or by raphs grill?
Personally id rebook for a different date.
Yea, I think Current is this issue..........They are really pulling it hard, and without any power, you are at the mercy of Mother Nature.
Yea, I definitely believe Dave went above and beyond.........GREAT, GREAT guy.
I'm looking forward to trying to get a ledge trip in this year.......squeezed between two canada trips![]()

I've always said what goes around, comes around..........
I was with one of my friends two years ago and towed a guy to devils elbow on Barkley from past Donaldson. He was also in trouble, not due to current, but he didn't think he could troll across the crossing channel with the wind. It was tough with my little boat, but we took it easy and did it.
Then I was with Eddie_M from the board here where a MUCH bigger boat puked outside Donaldson and we towed that to the Bridge near Devils Elbow, where the guy had some help waiting.
Then I was with Eddie_M and GadgetMan, and we water rescued a sailboat that capsized in the fall 2 years ago. Water temps were not too bad, but bad enough. That was in TOUGH wind and when the sailboat went to turn and tack the wind, the rudder controls broke and the boat went straight over, throwing the guy out of it.........We got his mast up on the front of my boat, which kept him from completely flipping over. WINDS were too great for use to tow him, and it was getting ugly in my little tracker. A couple other LARGER sailboats saw the deal and came over to help. 20 minutes later, we ran around duncan with the fishnet, getting all his floating stuff![]()
, while the bigger sailboats pulled him to shore. On shore, we gave him all his gear we collected, and made sure the other sailboat could continue rendering aid. WINDS were getting really strong at this time, and were shifting south, so we had to make a bee line towards Sugar to get our boat out.
ALL turned out good.
Pay it forward boys..........
Thanks,
Geo
Nice fellas, very nice, I love this kinda stuff.
Anchor in the boat?
Dave is a great and unselfish man he is always issuing warning on this board about how dangerous Kentucky Lake can be. We are lucky to have him on this board and on Kentucky Lake. Thanks Dave that could have been any of us.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I am sure I did not do anything many of you would not have done had you been faced with the same situation. Sorry I was quick and short with you George but when you told me the situation, I knew those guys could be in trouble, that is why I told you to call them and tell them to get tied up to something quick. That close to the dam and with the current out there right now, if they had ran out of trolling motor battery they would be caught up in the strong current and be taken thru the dam. It was also getting dark and I wanted to at least try to get my boat in the water before dark....we almost made it but it got dark on us so that made it even more fun....lol. Lots of logs floating here and there so going in the dark just added to the excitement...lol. When George called, I was on the phone with one of my sponsors and good friend Charlie Hardin (owener of Charmer Baits). As soon as I told him what was going on, Charile immediately volunteered to assist me in getting these folks off the lake (Charlie was down here at the Moor's to prefish for a tournament). Without Charlie's assistance, this would have been a lot more difficult task...thanks Charlie, you proved to me once again the type person you are last night.
Anyway, glad I was home and able to assist. I have been towed a few times and never refuse to tow anyone, and I am certainly not got to hesitate to assist anyone in a precarious situtation and these folks were and I am sure that most of you folks on this board would have done the same thing in a heart beat.
George, my quick decision to act on this was just part of my military background....when the crap hits the fan and every minute counts, yiou make the decision and you go do the mission....there is time for shaking after it is over.
PAY IT FORWARD
That is awesome Dave, sometimes I wonder IF folks really understand what all can happen when things go bad quickly and/or how fast "quickly" can be, very happy to hear a happy ending
