    Humminbird® Fishfinder 596c HD

I am looking to purchase a new Fish Finder. My Budgetis in the 600.00 range. I am interested in the Humminbird® Fishfinder 596c HD DI Sonar Fishfinder. Any reviews or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Chuck I have a 788ci and I am sold on the GPS part of the unit, much more than I thought I would, you can see were you are going, were you have been, and like you caught fish on deep point you can sit in one place and find every deep point on the lake, I think the 788 would be 200 or 300 more, but be worth the wait. when I got mine the down imaging was not available, I would try for the 788ci di this is Humminbirds price I think you can do better than that on line http://store.humminbird.com/products...ci_HD_DI_Combo JMO

For the features packed into the 596 HD DI, it's a great choice. I get great reviews back on it, and sell a lot of them at Bass Pro. However, my own recommendation is to consider the 597ci HD DI, which has GPS for just a little bit more (like $80). The ability to mark structure on the DI is very beneficial.
As far as what floatman was saying, the 788 ci is a great unit as well (I own one), but the features in the 788ci HD DI are not worth the extra $150 over the 597 if you don't plan on using the add-on's or the Ethernet connection. Hope this helps!

Chuck, I bought my 788DI HD for around 649.99 from a site called UniversalMania.com I also got my 798 HD SI from them for real cheap. He ships them super fast too, I got mine in like 3 days after buying them. You'll like the 788 better. My only gripe about the 788 is in really shallow water, the depth reading wacks out. I think Humminbird is working on a software update for it though.
