Well....put in at Bailey's Point at 8am this morning. Put the boat in the water, turned the key...and NOTHING!!! Couldn't get any juice to the engine at all...checked all my connections, seemed good, and I know my battery is good (new)??? Oh well, figured it had ran without any problems for too long...I was due!![]()
Well, instead of scratching the trip, I used my trolling motor to head across the lake to Peninsula. Fished for hybrids for about a half an hour and that is all it took to realize...that there were no hybrids there! So, I started flipping shoreline structure with a wacky...first cast produced a 20" (guessing 4lbs) LM...beautiful fish and great fight! Went about ten minutes with no more bites, then sure enough...another 20" (guessing 4lbs as well) LM....I thought, WOW this is a good sign! Flipped another 10 minutes...another big LM...jumped all over, around the boat, and lost her right on her last jump
. She was identical to the other two. After that, tons of shorts and two more over 15". Only fished for about 2hrs all in all...really great day (other then the mechanical issues). The ones all came off structure in 10-15ft of water, on the current break side. There was a lot of current! Water clarity was good, water temps 69 when I arrived, 72 when I left. No one was having any luck with the hybrids...nada. Beautiful day!
