    fish population question

How do you figure the rule of thumb taking fish from a pond to eat, such as blue gill etc. Pan fish. I fish a seven acre private lake. I take about 80to 90 large blue gill a year out of there to eat. I know Im not the only one fishing out there at this lake. The blue gill are roughly 3/4 of a pound and are healthy and fat. Dont want to ruin a good thing by over fishing plus respect for the owners.

    Thanks Bob

I think it all depends on the pressure and speices the others are taking. I read somewhere many years ago for every 1 bass take 25 bluegill, to maintain a good ecosystem. Hope this helps. Chuck
