The best 2 days of fishing in my life @ Lake St. Clair

Thursday my dad called me at work and said i'm packing up the boat for St. Clair, you in? It didn't take 2 seconds for me to say hell yeah! My dad had never been, I've been 3 times and know all to well how special of a lake it is. Friday we get out and 1st cast of the trip I put a walleye in the boat, I knew it was going to be a good trip at that moment! We continued fishing down a shallow weed bed close to a "seawall" in front of some homes. We were throwing lipless cranks (my dad a rattletrap and I was throwing the Excaliber One-Knocker 1/2oz) We caught several LM, SM, Pike. Ended the day with 65 total fish mostly LM and SM. I had two SM that day over 5 pounds, and my dad another one that was well over 4. Well we were raving about how good the fishing was not knowing it was about to get much much better!! Saturday the wind picked up and it got a little rough but not so bad you couldn't fish. Well we started down that exact same area we started the day before. fished our way up to a canal and found the LM absolutly stacked up. my dad made 14 casts and put 12 LM in the boat! We sat there hooking doubles and catchin them one after another keeping a very strict count as we kept score against each other....I looked at the clock after a while at it was 9:30 and we already had 48 fish in the boat. A guy was watching us and couldn't believe it...neither could we! we kept on till it slowed down a little and decided to give it a break and we'd come back to it. we kept on fishing all day and kept coming back to that same spot and just kept catching them it was the craziest thing I've ever seen we were laughing and having a ball. All in all we caught 138 on Saturday on 3 baits a lipless crank, a smoke grub, and a green pumpkin tube!! So in two days of fishing we caught 203 fish including LM, SM, Pike, a musky, awalleye, a few white bass, drum, and a rock bass. for the most part we were catching LM. But just an absolutly two days of fishing I will likely never duplicate and will definitely never ever forget!! Below is a link to our pics from the trip.

Yeah; I really wish our fish were more stupid. Glad you had a great weekend. That is kind of why we keep fishing; you just never know when you may hit it somewhere and have a day like that (maybe not like that); but a big day.

Dude no offense but if you think we have a fishery like this one your nuts. This happens to BUNCHES of people that go up there, check it out. This lake and Erie both blow anything we have completely out of the water.

I believe one of the reasons LSC is such a good fishery for bass is that they have a Closed and then Catch and Release season for these fish to keep their numbers and size up. The down-side of that is you can't really target and fish for that species all year round.

Glad you got into them while you were there, and it's truly an awesome experience (esp with your dad). We've made the trip up the last 3 yrs have had the same great experience fishing every time. I lost my dad a week before my trip this year so it was much needed trip for me to take my mind off things.

It's awesome and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Selfridge Air Force Base also puts on a good "air show" from time to time.

Many may already know about it, but www.lscn.net is a great website that consists of alot of LSC locals that can provide current lake and fishing conditions.

We stayed at red roof inn in Roseville and put in at Metro Beach and really just fished right there between Metro Beach and Selfridge.
