Pack a huge amout of.................................''PATIENCE'' Boats, Boats and more Boats
I've never been to Cedar Creek but am thinking about trying it in the morning. If I read it correctly, there are 3 launch sites on the lake. Are those access points marked or listed on an online map? Not really certain yet even how to get to the lake other than head down 27 from Lexington. haha...just kinda flying by the seat of my pants. Any directions or advice on getting to the lake would be appreciated.
yeah go south on 27 then take a left on 150 not far after you pass the walmart there in lincoln co. its a few miles down and you can get to the ramp at the dam from there you will pass the lake on 150 and the turn off is on your right just after you go over the dam. you can get to another ramp by turning right on 1770 just a few miles after you turn on to 150. that will take you straight to the lake.
that place is a zoo. went there today and there were a TON of boats there. each of thge 3 parking lots were pretty much full. we ran back by the bridge and stopped counting at 30 boats for that small area. the bite for me seemed a little slow. caught 1 little dinker early and about 30 min later caught one that went 5-7 and 21". if i knew how to post pics i would put it on here. those were the only 2 bites i had on the day
you all got me all nervous ... haha, ill try and tuff it out and report back
They have been smashing buzz baits there & some good ones at that. Buddy had a 6.2 Lber there yesterday evening & a couple more over five not to mention the smaller 3 to 4 Lbers. & there were several of them.
Surprisingly, when I was there a week ago on Saturday it was not as crowded as you all have mentioned. Perhaps the rain that day held a lot of them back.
were quite a few boats out, but the numbers didnt bother us
caught 1 all day
talked to a guy who said he caught a few early but nothing after 930, another guy told us he had one bite
water temp in low 70's most of the lake
boated 7 or 8 today (8am-2:30)....only one was decent. went 19"...all other dinks.
green pumpkin power worms tight to the bank and cover where the water was stained from all the boats doing 70mph past us is where we got them.
My son in law and I were there on Saturday from about 10 a.m. til 5:30 or so. We caught about 10 with only one being decent- about 2 lbs. This was our first trip there and I got to see for myself what I've heard about all the cover, the crowds, etc. It was tolerable though. We had kinda mentally prepared ourselves to have people slip in front of areas we were fishing, battle traffic and just generally take the beating that comes with crowding.- haha. I don't mean to sound petty at all. It was good to take it all in and be a part of it. We have a tournament there next weekend so I will be absorbing everything you guys write between now and then. We basically went down there to see what the lake looks like and try to get some ideas. Found out a couple of things(but not how to catch a 20 incher) and didn't get sunk so it wasn't a bad trip....plus I got to catch a small channel cat on a top water lure, which I had never done, so it was a good day. lol Too bad the tournament isn't for catfish.
